In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare many players are currently concerned. They do not want bright pink cosmetics in the game. The developers have now commented on this.
What are the fans’ worries? On Reddit there is a thread with over 1.5K upvotes and more than 200 comments (as of July 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM), in which a player expresses his great concern:
“Please don’t make pink, rainbow-colored, glowing, and randomly selected unrealistic skins for our characters. This is so annoying in Black Ops 4 and every CoD has had it so far. Black Ops 4 was so much better at release. I remember a tactical feeling and boom, now we have pink guys running around with glowing skins and bright guns. Please. Don’t. Do. That!”
The fear of the thread creator is well-founded, as many readers agreed with him:
- “I hope CoD will be spared from this stuff – clear, authentic, minimalist!”
- “Use real military uniforms from different countries, that would look impressive!”
- “I think of equipment like in The Division. Cool gloves and skins with different camouflage patterns, etc.”
Indeed, while past CoD titles have always been military-themed shooters, especially in the aforementioned Black Ops 4, there were quite silly skins, such as the glowing unicorn gun “Tactical Unicorn”.
Developers assure that Call of Duty remains realistic and relevant
This is what the developers said: Soon, developers from Infinity Ward spoke up and eased the worries of the Reddit users.
Developer Joel “Artpeasant” Emslie, the Art Director at the studio, stated that they want to remain “realistic and relevant” with the skins.
Many users reacted happily to this:
- “Good to hear, man! With all the emphasis on realism this time, it would really be a shame if you could wear pink and glowing camouflage patterns.”
- “Can’t we just leave the Black Ops series with their glowing unicorn skins to the Fortnite kids and keep the cool military outfits in Modern Warfare? That way everyone would get the CoD they like.”
Others, however, are skeptical and do not trust the developers’ promises:
- “At least until a few months after the launch have passed and Activision forces you to include the childish stuff anyway.”
- “I don’t have high hopes. We will undoubtedly see skins that are meant to sell well. Animated skins are probably very popular because Black Ops 4 has sold so many of them repeatedly.”
It remains exciting to see what the skins and outfits in Modern Warfare will ultimately look like.
