A part of the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from 2019 will be exclusive to PS4 players. At least for nearly a year. Only then can PC and Xbox players access the Survival Mode.
What’s new? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released a new story trailer for the shooter. It also briefly covered the Spec Ops mode. Fans of the series are likely familiar with “Spec Ops”. It is a cooperative game mode. According to Activision, it will bring completely new and strategic missions in the new installment. There should also be a connection to the story.
What is exclusive to PS4? Part of Spec Ops will remain exclusive to the PS4 for nearly a year. This concerns the “Survival Mode,” confirmed a representative of the website Gamespot. “Everyone gets the campaign, the multiplayer, and Spec Ops”. More information about the Spec Ops mode is expected on October 7.
The Survival Mode is thus part of this Spec Ops game mode. Survival can only be played on PlayStation 4 for about a year. In the trailer, at 2 minutes and 30 seconds, it shows that this exclusivity will last until October 1, 2020.
How much does the Survival Mode count for?
This is what the developers say: The developers at Infinity Ward were approached about the exclusivity. Many fans, especially on PC and Xbox, reacted negatively to this announcement. On Twitter, Studio Narrative Director of Infinity Ward (Call of Duty), Taylor Kurosaki, addressed the players.
A player wrote that he is tired of seeing these exclusivity deals and that Activision would ruin the game. Taylor Kurosaki explains that the Survival Mode is only a very small part of the game:
“Let’s be honest, ‘ruining’ is an exaggeration. Survival is only 1% of the game. The other 99% will release on the same day and date for all platforms. I prefer that every player plays 99% of the content at the same time than 100% of the content sometime later.”
What do you think about this? Do you find this exclusivity deal okay, because it’s only a small part of the entire game?
After the beta, some things need to change:
