This is how the press ratings come about:
“A wonderful campaign” – Digital Chumps
The website Digital Chumps gives the best rating so far for Modern Warfare. They write that Modern Warfare brings the franchise back to where it belongs.
You get a wonderful campaign, team-oriented Spec Ops, and a variety of multiplayer options that cater to those who love large and small warfare.

“A long forgotten Call of Duty feeling” – PlayStation LifeStyle
PlayStation LifeStyle gives a rating of 90 points. They write that the new Modern Warfare does a lot right and evokes a feeling known from the older parts of the franchise.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sets a benchmark for the future of games. The amazing new technology it uses gives the game a quality and polish level rarely found outside of first-party studios. A bold approach with a no-frills campaign results in a successful game from start to finish, while the multiplayer mode starts fresh and revives a classic Call of Duty feeling that has long been lost.

“Great game […] too little depth” – Gameblog.fr
The website Gameblog.fr gives one of the currently lowest ratings for Modern Warfare with 80 points. The testers missed depth in the story.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not just a reboot. The single-player is great, its multiplayer mode with Gunfight is solid and efficient. The game lacks a bit of depth (especially more hours in the campaign) to create the perfect picture. Nevertheless, it should be an essential part of your [gaming] collection by the end of the year.

“The sound is amazing” – GamePro
GamePro extensively tested Modern Warfare and concluded that the campaign feels “almost like before”. They give it 80 points. Tobias Veltin writes:
I am one of those who consider the Modern Warfare games to be the best Call of Dutys and was therefore very excited about the game. After the campaign of the reboot, I am satisfied. The battles feel particularly intense due to the faster deaths, there is the usual Call of Duty bombast, the sound is amazing, and the pacing is right because MW, like its predecessors, finds a good balance between action and quiet passages. And everything is really appealing thanks to the new engine.

However, the solo part of Modern Warfare did not impress me. Infinity Ward recycles too much of the familiar and adds too few new elements. The story remains, despite its solid level, as predictable as the gameplay variation with sniper use and drone flight. For an entertaining – and sometimes also distressing – shooter afternoon, the campaign of Modern Warfare is just the right thing, but personally, it does not come close to its namesakes. I lack the truly memorable moments. My theoretical rating therefore is a flat 80.
“Tastelessly entertaining” – GameStar
GameStar has uploaded a video summarizing their single-player tests of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. There they explain, what innovations this part offers, how the developers implement the announced scandal scenes, and what the gameplay has to offer you.
