On St. Nicholas Day, December 6th, a new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has gone live on PC, PS4, and Xbox One around 8 PM this evening. This fixes some annoying issues before the weekend. Apparently, players should be able to enjoy the weekend without major frustration.
What kind of update is this? On December 6th, 2019, a fresh update for Call of Duty came in unexpectedly around 8 PM German time.
The update mainly brings changes for issues that came with the big Season 1 update on December 3rd. Otherwise, these could have spoiled players’ weekends. One of the bugs caused an immediate crash of Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward probably didn’t want anyone to experience that.
Infinity Ward’s plan was obviously to fix the biggest “pain points” of the community and to resolve some game-breaking bugs that had partly just emerged today. The patch is surely hastily put together.

CoD Modern Warfare Patch Notes: What is being fixed?
These are the most important changes: The most important change is that “Shoot House 24/7 is back” – the mode was sorely missed. It replaces the Crash 24/7 mode. In the mode, only the map “Shoot House” is played, many consider it the “best map” at the moment. There is indeed some criticism of the maps of CoD Modern Warfare.
The further changes:
- The “Night Maps” are removed from the Hardcore mode.
- The “Docks” return to the rotation of the Gunfight maps.
- “Grazna Raid” and “Arklov Peak” are coming to Hardcore TDM. Arklov Peak is also returning to “Hardcore Headquarters”.
3 “big bugs” fixed
What kind of bugs are being fixed? We reported yesterday that 4 blueprints in CoD Modern Warfare are buggy. These are unique weapon skins. Here, the two skins “Jack Frosty” and “Old Wounds” have been repaired. They should now appear in the world as they do in the Gunsmith.
The quirky bug where a huge container ship passed through the map “Docks” is now fixed. This bug caused quite a stir and confused laughter.
Additionally, there was a bug that could crash CoD Modern Warfare completely when an AK-47 was fired with a launcher and a certain perk. “Fully Loaded” – this bug is also fixed.
The bug was only found today; it caused the game to crash immediately – it is already fixed. You can read the full patch notes in English here (via reddit).
Savannah bug caused issues
What is the Savannah bug in CoD Modern Warfare? There were increased search queries on Google for “Cod Modern Warfare Savannah Status”: “Savannah” is an error message that players receive when playing with a wrong version. This was likely just the patch behind it.
How is the update received? The first reactions are mostly positive, with minor complaints:
- On one hand, people are pleased that Infinity Ward seems to be listening to the community. Many really wanted Shoot House back.
- However, they would have preferred to have the choice between Crash 24/7 and Shoot House 24/7.
- The biggest criticism remains the “skill-based matchmaking”.
By the way, this trick apparently still works even after the latest update:
