Just before the start of the new season, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare accidentally leaked its Season 2. Some content is now known. Here’s a summary of what to expect next week.
This is what players are waiting for: On February 11, the new Season 2 of CoD: Modern Warfare is set to launch. But players are still eagerly waiting for Infinity Ward to officially introduce the new season. Apart from a few unofficial leaks, rumors, and teasers, hardly anything concrete is known about Season 2. However, that has now changed.
What does the recent leak reveal? There is finally new information about Season 2. Although this also comes from a leak and should be treated with some caution, this leak was “official” and is likely to be accurate.
The official Call of Duty website already published a first overview of the upcoming Season 2 online. Apparently by mistake and too soon, because the page was quickly taken offline again. However, some attentive fans managed to capture the information in images. Here’s what was revealed.

In an overview, there were initial details about a cult operator, new weapons, new maps, and some other details regarding the new Battle Pass for Season 2.
Ghost is coming back: The cult character Ghost is making a return as teased – and he will be a playable operator. He will be unlocked immediately when you purchase the Modern Warfare Season 2 Battle Pass.
2 new base weapons: After the RAM-7 and the Holger-26 in Season 1, Season 2 is now bringing 2 brand new weapons:
- Grau 5.56 – an assault rifle styled after the Sig 552 Commando
- Striker 45 – a submachine gun modeled after the HK UMP 45
The leak hasn’t revealed exactly how to obtain the two weapons yet. However, it is likely that they will be freely available to all players, tied to a specific level of the Battle Pass.
New details about the Battle Pass: It was considered certain that Season 2 would have a new Battle Pass, but there was no further information. The leak has now provided a better insight into what players can expect. And compared to the pass from Season 1, not much seems to have changed:
- The Season 2 Battle Pass costs around €10 or 1,000 CoD points
- A bundle of Battle Pass and 20 tier skips (unlocking 20 levels) can be purchased for 2,400 CoD points
- The Battle Pass will include 100 tiers
- Among other things, it includes new blueprints for weapons, new operator skins (maybe some from this leak), or a total of 1,300 CoD points. So if you play a lot, you can finance your next season pass.
- More than 80 different additional cosmetic items, such as watches, bonus XP tokens, and more, are waiting for the players
New map Rust: While there was no information on this in the new leak, the US site CharlieIntel has now confirmed that the popular multiplayer map Rust will make its debut in Modern Warfare with Season 2. So far, there were only speculations about the return of Rust.
Thus, their AR map (Augmented Reality) that CharlieIntel received at the launch of Modern Warfare has updated and now shows a clear teaser of Rust for Season 2.
When does Season 2 of CoD Modern Warfare actually start? An official start date for Season 2 has still not been announced. However, the official teaser for Ghost stated, “The war continues on February 11.” Season 1 was also extended until February 11.
Therefore, it is assumed that there will be a seamless transition and that Season 2 will start immediately after Season 1, also on February 11. The time is likely to be 7:00 PM German time, as all major updates and new contents (in winter) have been released around this time so far.
