With the update 1.12, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare introduces some festive elements to the game. The Gunfight map Docks comes completely decorated for the holidays and features an Easter egg that will thrill “Back to the Future” fans.
What’s going on in CoD? Holiday events or hidden “Santa Claus” references for the holidays have become quite normal in video games today. This year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare also brings a bit of festive cheer to players’ screens.
In addition to the new content, a little gift, and a festive operator bundle, the developers have given one of the smaller Gunfight maps a complete Christmas makeover, including a flying Santa Claus sleigh and a “Back to the Future” reference.
Modern Warfare update 1.12 brings winter map with Easter egg
What does the Easter egg look like? With the right timing, you can send a Santa sleigh flying through the skies. YouTuber “PrestigeIsKey” demonstrates in an English video how he and a friend deciphered the backstory of the Easter egg.
The sleigh, including reindeer, the ghost dog Riley, and a jolly Captain Price, then accelerates to 88 miles per hour and disappears into space and time.
Although the flux capacitor is not visible, the burning sled track clearly hints at the beloved film series from the 80s: Back to the Future.
What do I need to do to make the sleigh fly? If you stand on the side of the winter version of the Gunfight map Docks facing the water and look towards the center of the map, you can see a clock with a weather vane on the left side of the map.
The Easter egg is activated when you hit the weather vane at 12. The clock stops, a lightning bolt strikes, and the connected power cables transmit electricity across the map to the sleigh launch site. With a shot at the clock, you can make the hands spin faster.
How can I best see the Easter egg? Start a private Gunfight on the map and try it a few times. You need to hit the right timing almost exactly.
It’s best to do this with a friend. If one of you is in CoD-Caster mode, you can capture some nice shots of the time-traveling Santa.
You can also try it in public games. With these tips, you’ll win the 2vs2 on all maps and can calmly activate the Easter egg and amaze your opponents.
