Meanwhile, part of the community is in agreement about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: shotguns are too strong. Some clips show how pump shotguns can defeat other weapons at various distances – even sniper rifles.
This is seen in the clip: The reddit user TimbsB has shared a short clip where he defeats a sniper with a shotgun in the Ground War mode. He looks over the ledge of a roof, sees the reflection of a scope, and takes the shot.
On the shotgun, a 725, there is a sight mounted for medium to long ranges. One single shot is enough to take down the opposing sniper at this huge distance.
TimbsB has likely optimized his 725 through the Gunsmith feature for long-distance use. It seems he chose attachments that increase bullet speed and decrease “bullet drop.”
Shotguns – too strong?
This is how strong they are at other ranges: There have already been major complaints about the 725. CoD veteran Jacob “Decemate” Cato, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Guerrillas, also posted a clip on Twitter.
In this clip, it shows how he gets taken down at medium range, even though he is optimally equipped with the MP5 submachine gun for exactly that medium range.
After being taken down twice by the 725 in the same spot, he leaves the lobby. He only comments on the clip with: “I’m off this shit”, translated: “I’m done with this shit.”
This is what other players think: Some players do not find the specific scene with the sniper rifle too objectionable. TimbsB is firing with slugs and not with shot. These are designed for such distances:
Guys, he’s shooting with slugs. These are massive projectiles and can be effective up to 180 meters. There’s nothing wrong with that.
