The developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are currently facing another wave of criticism regarding their communication policy. The reason for the discontent of many players seems to be implemented changes that were not communicated. What exactly is going on?
What is the criticism about? Some members of the Modern Warfare community on Reddit accuse the developers at Infinity Ward of a poor communication policy. They claim to have withheld some information and details regarding the recent patches for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, leaving many things unaddressed.
Players are angry that the developers “only say what they want fans to hear.” It is sad that the community now has to come together and create their own patch notes.
This is not the first time the developers’ communication has been criticized. Many have been complaining for a while that the developers remain tight-lipped about the most important issues and points of criticism. This criticism arises again here and leads to heated debates.
However, keep in mind that the recent allegations are based on reports and findings from players. The developers themselves have not yet commented on this matter and the presumably inserted changes are not officially confirmed.
These updates are the focus: The allegations specifically refer to the Update 1.10, which was released right at the start of Season 1, as well as the Update 1.11, which followed just a day later on December 4.
According to fans, numerous changes that made their way into the game were simply ignored in the patch notes. As a result, numerous community members took it upon themselves to compile a complete list.
This list includes a variety of changes that apparently made it into the game but were not communicated – from weapon adjustments to playlist changes and numerous small details, a lot has been accumulated.
These changes were not communicated
According to reports from players, the following changes made their way into the game in the recent updates, but were not communicated:
This is an exemplary listing. You can view the complete overview in this Reddit thread: Why don’t we get the actual, full patch notes?
Update 1.10:
- More XP required for rank ups
- FAL assault rifle fire rate lowered
- EOD hack duration changed
- MG34 damage reduced
- New class layouts in gunfight
- New PlayStation-exclusive challenge
- VLK scope no longer increases ADS speed on some weapons
- Numerous changes to map rotation in various modes
- A form of strafing seems to have been introduced to prevent players from committing suicide too often. However, it is still unclear in which modes and under what conditions this applies.
- Throwing thermite on the shield now counts as a kill – regardless of whether with or without the EOD perk
- Oden damage reduced – at least in SpecOps
- New animation for calling in the nuclear strike
- Sensitivity for cruise missile changed.
- Recoil of the AK-47 increased (neither confirmed nor denied yet)
Update 1.11:
- Stability improved in Ground War. This has since been communicated via Twitter.
- Spawn-in animation/camera overview reactivated in all modes except Hardpoint/Headquarters.
- Some issues with tracking challenges fixed.
It will be interesting to see whether or how the developers will comment on this whole matter. So far, this has not yet happened.
