The CoD Modern Warfare beta starts today for pre-order customers on PS4, Xbox One, and PC with many changes. The pre-load is ready.
When does the beta start? The second beta week begins today, September 19 at 7 PM for all PS4 players. If you pre-ordered the game for Xbox One and PC, you can also start today and begin the pre-load thanks to the early access.
The developers listened to player feedback
These changes come with the second beta: During the first beta, the developers responded to the feedback from many fans. The mini-map has found its way back into the game. Before the second beta phase starts, a long list of changes has been published.
Many of them are expected to arrive during this beta phase or at the latest at launch. The most important changes and updates can be found here:
- Issues with linking PSN and CoD accounts can now be reported to support.
- A bug that displayed an incorrect level cap for players has now been fixed.
- Some players experienced graphical errors that caused the screen to display black, green, or yellow. This issue has been fixed.
- The rocket camera remained static in the initial deployment scene and did not display the map and enemy targets correctly. It should function properly again now.
- If you got stuck on a door, the Semtex grenade did not explode and the grenade symbol remained on the screen. This has been fixed for the second beta phase.
The developers continue to monitor feedback regarding the mini-map, doors that open too loudly, and spawn points. So changes for these issues may also occur during the second beta.

Download the beta before launch
Players on PlayStation 4 could play the beta earlier and therefore only need to update. For Xbox One and PC, you need to activate the beta differently depending on whether you pre-ordered a digital or retail version.
Pre-load for retail pre-orders
How do you get the beta code? Retail version pre-order customers need to check their email inbox. However, it must be the email address linked to your CoD account. Also check your spam folder if you don’t find the email right away.
Then go to callofduty.com/redeem and log in with your CoD account.
If you haven’t received an email, you should contact support directly.
This is what PC players need to do to download: The process is similar. Log in to Battle.net and go to your account page. There, select “Games and Codes” and then click on “Redeem Code”. Enter your beta code there and the download will start.
Pre-load of the digital version
What do buyers of the digital version need? Unlike the retail version, you do not have to wait for an email when purchasing digitally, but can start the download immediately.
This is how you download the beta on PC: Log in to Battle.net and go to the product page for Modern Warfare in the launcher. Just click on “Install” and your download will start.
How do Xbox One players download the beta: Simply look for “Modern Warfare” in the Microsoft Store, go to the product page for the beta, and start the download.
Until when does the beta run? The beta runs until September 23 at 7 PM. Until then, you have the opportunity to get a personal impression of the game.
Diligent players will actually receive a weapon as a gift in the beta.
