The promised remaster of the campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now available for purchase – but initially only on the PS4. The exclusivity has sparked mixed opinions.
MW2 campaign now exclusively for PS4: As already revealed by a leak from the German PS Store, the remaster for the campaign of Modern Warfare 2 was released today. It is available for purchase from now on.
The remaster was released as a bundle with digital content for Modern Warfare (2019) and costs €24.99. The bundle includes:
- a UDT Ghost skin
- 2 weapon blueprints
- a weapon talisman
- a finisher
- a taunt
- a animated calling card
- 2 Battle Pass tier skips
Here is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Campaign Remastered in the PS Store. The multiplayer of MW2 is not remastered, only the campaign is playable.
If you have issues with the PSN or the PS Store, you are not alone: There apparently are server issues with the PS4 at the moment.
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered exclusively for PS4
How long is the campaign exclusive? While PS4 players can already purchase the campaign, players on PC and Xbox One will have to wait another month. Activision has done something similar with the Survival mode, which however remains exclusive to PS4 for a whole year.
For the other two platforms (PC and Xbox One), the remaster will be released on April 30. According to a tweet from the official Twitter account of Call of Duty, players can already pre-order the campaign to start on time.
Play alongside Soap, Shepherd, Ghost and other familiar faces as you fight back against Vladimir Makarov, the Inner Circle, and other unforeseen foes.

At a later time, it is rumored that according to a leak the MW3 campaign will be released as well.
This is how players are reacting: The decision has not been met with much understanding. While players are excited about the remaster of the campaign, they cannot understand why it is not available to everyone at once.
Especially in light of the coronavirus crisis, which forces many people into their homes and makes MMOs appealing, it seems to be a strange decision. Twitter user Nathan S. writes: “Everyone is at home and you make Xbox and PC wait. What a joke” (via Twitter).
In particular, publisher Activision is drawing the ire of users. A former developer recently explained how little influence Infinity Ward has over some contents. Players now suspect Activision is behind the decision here as well.
