The campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is playable even before the release of the multiplayer. MeinMMO reveals how long it takes you to complete the missions.
How long does the campaign take? The duration of the campaign is, according to various sources, between 5 and over 9 hours on normal difficulty. If you rush through the missions, you will be faster.
If you take your time, choose a more cautious approach, or want to dive deeper into the immersion, expect a little more playtime. Either way, the campaign should be completable in about 2 evenings.
You can find all information about the campaign in 2 minutes here.
How many missions are there? There are 17 missions waiting for you in the campaign. The fastest missions among them can be completed in just 5 minutes, while others can take up to an hour.
Modern Warfare 2 could receive a story DLC in 2023, which will likely bring more content to the campaign. As it stands, CoD 2023 may not happen and instead, new content for CoD MW2 could be released.
You will receive various rewards for the missions such as tokens for double experience points, emblems, or operators. After completing the campaign, there is also a weapon blueprint.
The multiplayer of Modern Warfare 2 starts on Friday, October 28. Here you find the most important multiplayer content and in the video parts of the graphically impressive Amsterdam mission from the campaign:
Campaign 8 Days Early – Fans Are Excited
The campaign of Modern Warfare 2 is highly regarded by players, partly because it is playable earlier than the multiplayer. Some fans explain that they usually only play CoD for the multiplayer.
However, now that the campaign is available earlier, they check it out and are thrilled by the visuals and the story. Hearing the operators’ voices gives them “goosebumps” and at times it is hard to distinguish the scenes from those in a movie.
Criticism primarily revolves around the design of some missions, such as the stealth missions. However, the negative feedback is limited.
MeinMMO editor and CoD expert Maik Schneider feared even before release that the campaign would affect him emotionally:
The campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 could make me cry
