In Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the upcoming installment of the shooter series in 2016, information about the zombie mode and multiplayer has been revealed.
During a livestream event yesterday, the developers from Infinity Ward talked about CoD: Infinite Warfare, which will be released at the end of the year. In addition to already known information about the new CoD, there are now hints about the zombie mode and multiplayer.
No Aliens, but Zombies in Infinite Warfare
During the event, an image was revealed that clearly hints at a zombie mode in Infinite Warfare:
It features a film reel with a zombie on a single frame. Popcorn and blood are also a must.
The announcement of a zombie mode is somewhat surprising, as Infinite Warfare is said to take place in a complete futuristic setting. Previous zombie modes in the series have always taken players back in time. According to a press release from Activision, this mode will present a new story and further evolve gameplay compared to previous installments. The developers stated that it will be “unique” and “different”.
The zombie mode was first introduced by Treyarch in 2008 with Call of Duty: World at War and has since become a popular mode where you battle the undead. Infinite Warfare will be the first game where the developers from Infinity Ward deliver this mode. The zombies from Infinity Ward will reportedly differ from those of Treyarch, as confirmed by the developers during the stream.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that the new zombie mode will be packed with Easter eggs.
Further information shared during the stream:
- There will be plenty of fresh multiplayer items.
- At least one multiplayer map takes place on a space station. Other maps will take players to different planets. You won’t just battle on Earth.
- There will be battles in zero gravity, with new mechanics that will be revealed at a later date.
- Infinity Ward is said to feel credible and “grounded” despite the futuristic setting; there will be no aliens.
- The next major announcements will take place at E3 in June.
Infinite Warfare will be released on November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
