In Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, you have the choice between various game modes. Your skill is tested in different ways. The Activision blog has now explained some of the game modes in more detail.
The Specialist Mode is unlocked after you complete the campaign on any difficulty. If you manage to prove yourself in this single-player mode, the difficulty is set to YOLO. We will explain how this works and what it means here.
The Specialist Mode in CoD Infinite Warfare
This mode is presented as “particularly realistic” and is the precursor to the YOLO mode. In Specialist Mode, you can only heal with Nano Shots, as there is no automatic health regeneration. Because that alone would not make this mode difficult enough, there are additional circumstances that create a high difficulty level. Keep these tips in mind when trying out the mode:
Shooting limbs: If you are shot in one of your arms, it impairs your handling of equipment and worsens your aim with the weapon. Your weapon can also be shot out of your hands. If you are shot in one of your legs, your movement will be impaired.
Healing is only through Nano Shots: Automatic health regeneration is disabled.
Helmets are the only protection against headshots: Damage to helmets is permanent, so they need to be replaced regularly.
Helmets and Nano Shots use an equip slot: Remember to set both items in your loadout before you start a level.
Use cover: Shooting from cover is particularly important in this mode, as it allows you to survive longer. Use this feature regularly.
If you have managed to complete the game on this difficulty despite these harsh conditions, then the difficulty rises to “YOLO”. Hardcore players will be pleased with this mode.
Call of Duty YOLO Game Mode
For those of you who have managed to circumvent death in the past: “YOLO” stands for “You only live once.” “You only live once” is not only the name of this game mode but also its motto. Activision explains this mode as follows:
This mode is unlocked after you have completed the game on Specialist difficulty. With YOLO, we mean that you only have 1 life. If you die, you must restart the game from the beginning.
Fans of hardcore game modes will probably enjoy this mode. But it could also be the right fit for casual players looking for a challenge. As a pre-order customer of Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, you can already play the campaign now. The game officially releases tomorrow, November 4.
