The developers of CoD Infinite Warfare not only collected feedback during the beta but also utilized it to make some adjustments. These include various balancing changes and matchmaking adjustments.
Before the release of a game, beta phases are used to test various aspects of the game. For instance, the developers of Call of Duty wanted to find out how well the new matchmaking system works. For this purpose, a beta phase was extended by one day. The developers were especially interested in feedback on the balancing of the game. Based on this feedback, several balance changes were made that will be active on Launch Day of CoD Infinite Warfare.
Shorter Wait Times in Matchmaking
In the new matchmaking system, the player search was too detailed and took too many factors into account, resulting in unnecessarily long wait times. Even during the beta, adjustments were made to these settings to shorten the wait times. While the matchmaking system works well when creating new lobbies, joining an ongoing match took too long. This issue has also been resolved and is expected to result in shorter wait times in the multiplayer of CoD Infinite Warfare in the future.
Changes to Weapons: The developers also evaluated the various weapons using the beta data. Based on this data, several balance changes are being implemented in the game. Here is a small excerpt of these changes.
- Shotguns: The damage at longer distances has been increased.
- The range for a one-shot kill has been slightly increased.
- Sniper Rifles: The bullet spread now immediately goes to 0 as soon as the scope is on the player’s eye and is no longer reduced over time.
- Before the optic completely reaches the player’s eye, there is no aim assist.
Changes to Game Modes: Along with the weapons, there are also some adjustments to the various game modes of CoD Infinite Warfare.
- Defender: As the carrier of the drone, the score-per-second bonus has been increased from 5 to 10 points per second.
- Gun Game: Now supports all classic weapons.
- Domination: If you, as a player, move away from a flag, the capture progress was decreasing too quickly. The decrease in progress is now only half as fast, allowing players to move away from the flag to defend it.
