It is the worst-rated trailer on YouTube: Nearly 3 million disappointed fans gave the official “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” reveal trailer a negative rating. However, the developers of the game are not disturbed by this and are confident that the game will be well-received!
“Our fanbase is indeed passionate…”
In an interview with Kotaku, Brian Horton (Art Director at Infinite Warfare) has now addressed the rather negative feedback on the reveal trailer of Infinite Warfare. When asked if the team was surprised by the negative reaction from fans, Horton replied that Call of Duty fans have always been passionate. The concept of “in space” naturally provokes mixed reactions among fans, yet they are sure that Call of Duty fans will love the game.
Horton was also asked how they remember the day the reveal trailer was released. He said it was a day like any other for him and the development team. The negative criticism has made them work even harder on the game to make it as good as possible. It was like a battle cry with the message “Yeah, we will make the game awesome!“.
“Is it really a day like any other when you release the “Call of Duty” trailer with the most negative reactions?” Brian Horton is asked. “We can control how the game turns out – a different department is responsible for brand management and marketing. Our job is to develop a good game. Of course, you also get bad reactions, but then you get back in the saddle and continue working on developing a good game.”
Brian Horton has been in the gaming industry for over 21 years now and has experienced many highs and lows, he says. “With a good team that is focused on the work, you will be able to develop a good game. No matter what the context is: If the game is cool and fun to play, people will play it,” he added. “The fans will come.”
