In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and CoD: Warzone, the new Season 2 is starting soon. This traditionally comes with a larger update. However, it won’t be released all at once. MeinMMO explains when exactly what will arrive.
This week’s highlights: On February 25, Season 2 starts for Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone, the second joint season. This brings all sorts of new content to the game, including:
- new weapons
- new operators
- a new battle pass
- new maps for multiplayer
- new modes for battle royale
- or Outbreak – a new, huge mode for zombies
But before you can dive into the fresh content, you need to download the new update for Season 2. And the patch won’t be released all at once. So when does it actually start? When does which update come?

Season 2 Update – Important Times
The Season 2 patches for CoD Cold War and Warzone will come separately, and the respective updates will not be available for all players to download at the same time. Apparently, this is to keep server load as low as possible.
When will the Cold War update for Season 2 come? First, players will be able to download the Season 2 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The patch should be available for download on Wednesday, February 24, between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM German time and is already live for us.
However, when it will start for you within this time window is random. The patch will be available to different players at different times. After that, the update should be able to be downloaded at any time.
When will the Warzone update for Season 2 come? The update for Season 2 for Call of Duty: Warzone is set to follow a day later and should be available on Thursday, February 25, between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM German time. Here, too, it seems to depend on chance when exactly you can download the update during this period. After that, it should be possible any time.
When exactly does the new Season 2 start?
Update February 25, 06:00 AM: According to Treyarch, Season 2 is now live. So if you have downloaded the updates (for Warzone and/or Cold War), you can apparently start.
