The first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War & the Battle Royale Warzone goes online on December 16th. There will be a Battle Pass with 100 tiers full of rewards. MeinMMO lists what is currently known about it.
What is the Battle Pass? With each new season, Black Ops Cold War aims to launch a fresh Battle Pass, allowing you to secure a lot of rewards. The pass is a sort of personal progress system, similar to the Prestige Rank system and provides you with items in exchange for experience points / gameplay time regularly.
The Battle Pass of Call of Duty offers 2 types of tier rewards: premium tiers and free tiers. To collect the rewards from most tiers, you have to stake 1,000 CoD Points on the table. This corresponds to about 10 euros. Gameplay-relevant items, such as the two new weapons of Season 1, are always part of the free tier rewards.
In general, CoD has been following the strategy since Modern Warfare to provide all important additional content (such as maps, modes, weapons) free of charge for buyers of the shooter. Everything that you can buy with CoD Points in the game are therefore cosmetic items that do not provide any advantage, even though that has happened due to bugs.

Battle Pass gets its own trailer & showcases many contents
Where can I use the contents? The items from the pass can be used in Cold War & the Battle Royale Warzone. In CoD MW, the pass can also be leveled, but the contents can only be used in the other two CoDs.
What does the latest Battle Pass bring? In a blog post on callofduty.com, the CoD developers presented the contents of the new pass. There’s even a German trailer, which we embed here:
In the nearly 2-minute video, you can already see many items from the upcoming Battle Pass. The blog post goes into more detail about the items:
- When purchasing the pass, you receive the operator Snitch, a watch, and a skin for the operator Adler with missions for additional skins.
- At 13 tiers, you receive 100 CoD Points each.
- 2 tiers are reserved for the new weapons – assault rifle Groza & Mac-10 SMG.
- At 20 tiers, you receive weapon blueprints.
- 1 tier gives you a general finisher / finishing move that you can use with any operator.
- Tier 100 provides buyers of the pass with a Snitch skin with missions for additional skins, an assault rifle blueprint, a special emblem, and a bundle with vehicle skins.
- On the remaining tiers, there are weapon charms, stickers, emblems, XP tokens, calling cards & crosshairs for sights.
Mac-10 and Groza – The new weapons of Season 1
What is known about the new weapons? In the trailer and the blog post, there are also initial infos about the new weapons.
- Mac-10 at tier 15
The submachine gun has a strong vertical recoil and offers the highest fire rate among SMGs. It is said to also deal significant damage at longer distances, but due to the recoil, it is meant to function better at close range.
- Groza assault rifle at tier 31
This assault rifle is the prototype of a Soviet bullpup rifle, which is said to shine particularly with its handling properties. It comes with the 7.62 caliber and offers a high target acquisition speed. Fire rate and bullet velocity are said to be close to the top values of the assault rifle class.
Cold War Battle Pass is especially worth it for frequent players
What else should I know about the Battle Pass? The Battle Pass is a great way to motivate yourself to keep playing. It typically runs for the entire season and then alternates with the Battle Pass of the next season.
If you have earned the pass after some time and haven’t purchased it, you should definitely take the plunge. Overall, the pass offers you 1,300 CoD Points and thus more premium currency than it costs. A fair offer, especially for frequent players.
However, you need to invest a lot of time to fill the pass. Depending on your activity and skill, it can take between 20 – 60 minutes to fully progress a tier. The better you play, the faster the pass progresses. Keep an eye on the double XP events that developer Treyarch regularly hosts to level up the pass efficiently.
For the first time, this also works across multiple CoDs. It doesn’t matter whether you play CoD MW, Cold War, or Warzone. The Battle Pass of Season 1 always carries over. You can read how this works with the shared progress systems here.
