Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone brought a new sniper rifle into the game with a small update on April 7 – the ZRG 20mm. MeinMMO shows you the first information about the rifle and how you can unlock it.
What kind of rifle is this? The ZRG 20mm is a very slow-firing sniper rifle in Black Ops Cold War. The in-game description states that the weapon has a high bullet speed but a slow rate of fire. Additionally, it deals more damage to vehicles and has a very large one-shot range. A hit to the head, chest, shoulders, or stomach instantly eliminates opponents in regular multiplayer.
The weapon is also available in the battle royale Warzone. It says: “Sniper rifle with bolt action. High damage. Instant kills with head or upper chest shots.”
The base magazine of both variants offers 3 shots. The weapon was already announced through the Season 2 roadmap and has now been added to the game. MeinMMO shows you how to unlock the ZRG 20mm and what features it has.
Unlock ZRG 20mm with Sniper Challenge
How do I unlock the ZRG 20mm? You must earn at least 2 longshot medals with sniper rifles in 10 matches.
So grab the LW3 – Tundra or the Pellington in Cold War and go hunting for kills at a long distance from the opponent. Every 6v6 map offers you good opportunities for this, and you should easily achieve 2 longshot kills with sniper rifles per match. The nasty balcony on the Miami map or the long shooting paths on Nuketown’s outside lane are particularly recommended.
But make sure to complete the matches. There have been reports from players that weapons in Cold War do not unlock even though the challenge counter is full. This is considered a display bug, and it is recommended to always play through all matches where you take on the challenge.
You can also accomplish this well in Warzone, but you will probably need significantly longer for the matches than in Cold War’s multiplayer.
You can also directly purchase the ZRG 20mm in the real-money shop for CoD points. The new bundle “Jackpot Sniper” costs 1,200 CoD points (approximately 12 euros) and offers, in addition to the weapon blueprint, an emblem, a talisman, and a gambling-style sticker. However, keep in mind that you can only play with the attachments of the skin – you still have to unlock the base weapon.
ZRG 20mm interesting after initial tests in Warzone & Cold War
How is the weapon in Cold War? The ZRG 20mm fires slowly and has miserable movement speeds. However, you can take down enemies even with body shots – that’s the hallmark of the rifle. This makes the weapon generally interesting for every sniper player, particularly for beginners in quick-scoping. How does it look in Warzone? Judging by the initial tests of the weapon, it could become a strong competitor to the popular, large sniper rifle HDR. The ZRG 20mm has a high bullet speed, a better rate of fire, and aims down sights about as quickly as the HDR sniper rifle from Modern Warfare. An analysis comparing the stats has been published by CoD YouTuber “JGOD”. We are embedding the English video here:
How and whether the weapon will establish itself remains to be seen in the coming days and weeks. However, with the ZRG 20mm, an exciting sniper option has come to both games, and the chances are good that the rifle will perform well. Let’s just hope that the weapon does not turn out to be too powerful. The battle royale Warzone has just nerfed its best weapons, to bring some deviation back into the game.
