Cold War: Update 1.07 from 08.12. – Information & Patch Notes in English
When is the update coming? The update is already live. It went online this morning (December 8) around 8 AM.
How big is the update? Depending on the platform, you will have to expect different download sizes. On Twitter, the account @CODColdWarNews collected the various sizes from its users:
- PS5: 23.686 GB
- PS4: 13.279 GB
- Xbox Series X|S: 24.08 GB
- Xbox One: 14.64 GB
- PC: 13.8 GB
However, there were also users who reported different sizes and some even had to reload the entire game.
What happens in the playlist? The developers from Treyarch introduced a brand new mode to the game – Motherland Moshpit. Here you fight on the two maps “Moscow” and “Crossroads Strike” in the modes “TDM”, “Kill Confirmed”, “Domination” and Control. You can choose the new playlist in Hardcore mode.
Fans of the cult map Nuketown will have to do without the Chaos mode “Nuketown 24/7” for the time being. The developers do announce in the patch notes that “Nuketown 24/7” will return with the start of Season 1. Nuketown will probably look a bit more festive then. The map will, however, remain in rotation when you play normal modes.
When does double XP start? Starting December 12, an event with double weapon and rank XP will run until the start of Season 1 on December 16. When exactly the event will go online has not yet been revealed by the CoD developers. Based on experience, it will probably start on Saturday at 7 PM our time.
Cold War Season 1: Trailer with Operator “Snitch” and information about the Warzone map
What’s new for Season 1? In line with the new update, Cold War also showed the trailer for Season 1, in which you can also see the new operator:
It is probably showcasing the new Warzone map “Rebirth Island” and a young operator named Adler, who is hardly recognizable without his glasses and deep wrinkles. The assumptions and leaks from the past weeks about the new Warzone map seem to be correct.
“Rebirth Island” has something to do with the dangerous “Nova 6” gas, which played a role in the story of Black Ops earlier. You may be seeing a larger and revamped version of the Alcatraz map from “Blackout,” the Battle Royale from Black Ops 4 in 2018, as the new Warzone map.
Additionally, you can see the new operator, whose name is probably already known from a major leak regarding Season 1: Snitch. The new character wears a mask and has a damaged eye. The trailer suggests that Adler has something to do with the damaged eye. A true friendship continues on the battlefields of Cold War.
What is already in the game? Treyarch has already unlocked a small part of the new content and lets you hunt for “Intels” in Zombie mode. You can now find data in the normal “Die Maschine” mode, and there is also data to be found in the PlayStation-exclusive mode “Onslaught” for Season 1.
Balance adjustments with Update 1.07
We present the list of exciting balance adjustments in bullet points.
Notably, there are the indicated changes at the spawn points. The predecessor Modern Warfare received a lot of criticism for its spawn system, which was hardly addressed by the developers at Infinity Ward. Treyarch seems to be taking a different route here.
- In the mode “Domination,” many target zones now spawn differently – on the maps: Checkmate, Garrison, Crossroads Strike & Moscow
- In the mode “Control,” the spawn points of the attackers have been revised – on the maps: Moscow, Miami & Checkmate
- The Fireteam mode now offers shorter spawn protection and lower spawn rates for helicopter gunners, VTOL jets, and aircraft
- In “Connected Weapons,” you can now access the stationary turrets more easily
- The explosion of the supply crates now no longer causes team damage in Hardcore mode
- On the maps “Crossroads” and “Armada,” you can now open your parachute in all modes
- Trophy systems now destroy other trophy systems
Improvements in ray tracing on next-gen and many bug & crash fixes
Finally, we summarize general improvements that developer Treyarch mentions in its comprehensive patch notes. These include issues that led to crashes, general bugs, and also problems with the progression systems, such as weapon camouflages.
Particularly interesting for owners of next-gen consoles are the adjustments regarding ray tracing. Players had reported various issues with this new technology, which have now been addressed:
- Some reasons for game crashes related to ray tracing on the next-gen consoles have been eliminated
- According to the developers, the game should now run generally more stable – in multiplayer and zombie modes
- A problem has been fixed that incorrectly displayed the prestige icons
- The mastery weapon camouflages could sometimes not be unlocked correctly
- A problem with party invitations in Fireteam mode has been resolved
- The game no longer kicks soldiers for inactivity while they are in spectator mode during round-based modes
- Trophy systems should now intercept all projectiles; there were previously inconsistencies
- Reworking and comprehensive bug fixes for finishing moves
- Improvements in menu control with mouse and keyboard
- Issues with challenges and weapon camouflages in zombie mode have been resolved
- Various exploit areas have been closed
- A bug during the “Decontamination” step of the main quest in Zombies has been fixed
- Additionally, there have been adjustments in the “Dead Ops Arcade” mode
The changes are quite comprehensive, and MeinMMO shows you many important points of the update, but not everything. If you want to browse through the changes yourself, you can find them in the patch notes on a website by CoD developer Treyarch.
The developers have already implemented numerous changes since the release on November 13, and with Season 1, new content will arrive for Black Ops Cold War on December 16. But you should definitely check back into the game beforehand. From December 8 at 7 PM to December 16 at 8 AM, there are 2 huge cosmetic bundles available for free.
