Cold War with content boost for zombie fans
What’s coming for the zombie mode? The fight against the undead continues, and the highlight is undoubtedly the new survival map “Mauer der Toten”. Since the release of “Firebase Z” in February, zombie fans have been waiting for the next round-based map in Cold War, and finally it’s here. Developer “Treyarch” has also released a big trailer for the new zombie map:
However, keep in mind: Like with previous major “Easter Egg” releases, the unlocking of the “Main Easter Egg” is slightly delayed. You can only start hunting the secrets of “Mauer der Toten” from 7 PM on Thursday – before that, it’s pure zombie slaughter.
What’s coming along? Besides the large map, there are new toys for the zombie mode:
- The perk “Mule Kick,” which allows you to carry a 3rd weapon
- The wonder weapon “CRBR-S” with multiple fire modes (via Twitter)
- Crafting item “LT53 Kazimir” – a kind of portal grenade
- Klaus – a helpful and bloodthirsty android
- Strong reduction of health and armor of zombie enemies
- Dynamic wall weapons for purchase (can change rarity every 5 rounds)
In addition, new challenges, secret data to unlock, weapon balance adjustments (only zombie mode), and damage adjustments for equipment will come. If you want to read more about the changes, you can find the English patch notes here (via treyarch.com).
Nuke Streak, League Play, new weapons – There’s more
What does multiplayer get? The mid-season 4 is definitely a zombie party, but multiplayer isn’t left out. Particularly a “new” scorestreak is likely to make some players smile – as the nuclear bomb is now available in most multiplayer modes.
If you get 30 kills in a row without dying, you will receive the nuke killstreak and can end the match in favor of your team. With a big bang. Exclusions apply for League Play and matches with CDL rules, as well as multi-team matches, party games, and small skirmishes.
With the start of the mid-season, you can also look forward to the new 6vs6 map “Rush”. The map is from Black Ops II and resembles a paintball field. Additionally, the mode “Paintball Moshpit” will be introduced during the mid-season, which will make the bullet effects in the game a bit more colorful.
At the start of the mid-season, the classic mode “Capture the Flag” will go online, and with “Cranked Kill Confirmed” a new variant of “Uplifted” will be available, where you need to collect the dog tags from your kills.
Additional changes:
- 2 new weapons: submachine gun OTs 9 and a vicious melee club
- In the prestige shop you can buy weapon blueprints for your keys
- For the first challenge completed in a day, you will receive an XP token
- New rewards for your achievements in “League Play” (during the mid-season)
- Adjustments to the sights & optics of the assault rifles Krig 6, XM4, QBZ-83, FFAR 1
The mid-season 4 opens a new chapter in the zombie mode and even brings Call of Duty to Germany. The zombie community is excited about the new map, and many players can’t wait to finally storm the wall.
Zombie fans may continue to enjoy Cold War even after the release of a new Call of Duty in 2021. Leaks suggest that Cold War could continue to receive content in 2022 – and zombies are at the top of the list.
