Professionals in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War have come together and decided to ban the AK-47. This weapon will no longer be used in their tournaments, even though it is officially allowed by the developers.
This is what the professionals have agreed on: In a GA (Gentleman’s Agreement), the professionals of the CoD League 2021 agreed that they will no longer use the assault rifle AK-47.
GAs are rules that the professionals set themselves and adhere to. They are not official tournament rules, but are considered necessary by the professionals to keep the game competitive.
By doing so, the professionals are effectively banning a very powerful weapon so that every professional can benefit in the tournament.
Professionals have much more fun playing after the ban
Why is the AK-47 being banned? The AK-47 is known among assault rifles mainly for its enormous damage. It is somewhat difficult to handle, but professional players adapt to it more quickly and benefit from the weapon’s damage.
As a result, opponents often stand no chance, and the AK-47 has thus dominated the meta among professionals so far.
Since there is almost no other choice for the weapon, the professionals have issued a ban. If no one plays with the weapon, then no one has the enormous advantage, and other weapons can shine.
These are the effects of the ban: The professionals are already raving about a better gaming experience after the ban. So writes pro Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley on Twitter: “1. Map without the AK-47 on the map and wow, it’s so much better, better players will definitely succeed in this meta.”
The professional Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson wrote on January 2 that it was his last day with the AK-47 for now, but he will see it again soon.
This self-imposed ban is going over very well with the professionals and the rounds seem to be running more fairly.
