Just one week to go until the release of the new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (November 13). Now the developer Treyarch has released new information about its first season and has also announced a cult map that will even be coming in November: Nuketown.
With a blog post on callofduty.com, the CoD developers provided new information about the time after the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. MeinMMO shows you the information about the first season.
When does Season 1 & Nuketown arrive? Just under a month after the release, the first season starts in Cold War. But before that, you can already look forward to a cult map that bears some similarities to the “Modern Warfare” hit Shipment:
- Cold War Season 1 Release: December 10
- Nuketown ’84 Release: November 24
This means that just 11 days after the release of Cold War on November 13, the first new map will be added to the game. However, the real excitement begins when the first season starts.
With Season 1, the multiplayer of Cold War really takes off
What will happen during Season 1? The developers are currently not going into detail about what content you can expect with the first season. However, a roadmap already gives a rough idea of what will be new in the game. In addition, the CoD creators explain how Warzone, CoD MW, and Cold War will work together:
- New maps and modes for the multiplayer of Cold War
- The 2vs2 gunfight from CoD MW is returning
- New weapons will be added to the game
- New zombie modes
- A previously “secret” Warzone experience
- The first Battle Pass of Cold War will start
- Warzone, Cold War, and CoD MW will share level progression and grow closer together

What does it cost? Developer Treyarch assures that gameplay-relevant content, such as weapons or new maps, will be completely free. They want to try to replicate the success of Modern Warfare with Cold War and rely on the same business model as its predecessor. This means:
- Season and mid-season content will be free for all players
- The Battle Pass will again offer a free and a premium path
- New weapons can be unlocked through challenges or the Battle Pass
- You can buy cosmetics for real money that are cool but provide no advantage
What does Cold War offer at release? Which content will be available at release in the full game is not yet completely clear. However, there are already some contents you can count on:
- A campaign set during the Cold War period (even with a mission in former East Berlin)
- Zombie mode – However, it is still unclear how large the mode will be at launch
- The multiplayer mode will launch with at least 8 maps (but not all are designed for every mode)
- Many established multiplayer modes and new modes like Fireteams (40vs40), Combined Arms (12vs12), or the VIP mode (6vs6)
In addition, the prestige system is returning. Its return has been requested by many CoD players, as it was removed in Modern Warfare. In that game, you could advance 100 new levels with each season.
The new prestige system apparently connects these concepts, and you can collect prestige ranks in each season. You then collect your ranks across 3 CoDs – Warzone, CoD MW, and Cold War.
