When is the beta release on PC? The new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will launch into the beta on PC on October 17, 2020. So, that’s this weekend. However, there is another method to get into the beta faster and you don’t even have to pay for it.
The developers at Treyarch have prepared an early access for the PC beta. This starts on October 15, 2020. You can find tips for the beta here:
Earlier beta release via Twitch – Here’s how it works
How do you get in? There are 2 methods to participate in the earlier beta of Cold War:
- You have pre-ordered Black Ops Cold War
- You watch streams of the game on Twitch with a linked account
Starting at 7:00 PM our time on October 15, 2020, you can get beta access if you watch selected streamers on Twitch while they play Cold War. It is important that the streamers have “Drops Enabled” because your beta key for PC will be awarded via Twitch Drops.
What do I need to set up beforehand? To be eligible for the Twitch drop as a viewer, you must link your Twitch account with your Activision/Blizzard account. You do this by logging into Twitch and linking the accounts there. If you don’t have a Twitch account yet, you can create one for free here. After that, log in to Battle.net and verify your registration.
How long do you need to watch the stream? Once you’ve found a streamer that has Drops Enabled, you need to watch the stream for a total of four hours. But don’t worry, you don’t have to sit in front of the screen the whole time. It’s enough if the stream simply plays on your computer. You also don’t have to interact with the chat. Once you have accumulated four hours, a notification will appear right now in the Twitch window informing you about the Twitch drop with the beta access.
What happens next? Next, you need to download the beta via the Battle.net launcher. Just make sure you clear 42.2 gigabytes of storage beforehand.
