For Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the multiplayer mode has been revealed. However, the trailer and the associated information have not convinced all fans. Many are concerned that so many vehicles were shown. And the new scorestreak system is also viewed with skepticism. However, almost everyone is excited about the new zombies.
This can be seen in the trailer: The first major multiplayer reveal of Black Ops Cold War showcased a lot of explosions reminiscent of a fast-paced action blockbuster. Soldiers were running around, shooting each other in rapid succession. The action took place in locations such as Moscow, Miami, Uzbekistan, and at sea. At the very end, the popular zombies even appeared for a few seconds.
Players criticize vehicles
This is the problem with the vehicles: The trailer prominently featured the many vehicles. Soldiers were often seen in SUVs, motorcycles, jet skis, helicopters, and even a tank. This annoyed many players immensely, as they would love to play CoD in multiplayer specifically for the action on small maps. Vehicles, on the other hand, only make sense on large maps and would make the whole game look like a “casual version” of Battlefield.

That’s why this might not be so bad: However, many players quickly pointed out that the shown vehicles likely all come from the Combined Arms mode. A mode where 12vs12 players fight for dominance on a large map, and vehicles are a good tool for that.
The classic 6vs6 deathmatch and familiar modes will still be available, but the developers likely wanted to focus more on the new experiences.
However, that still bothers some players because if one wants to play such large maps with vehicles, they would just go for Battlefield.
Gameplay regression compared to Modern Warfare?
What fans criticize about the gameplay: From what is already known about the multiplayer of Cold War, the game will do some things in gameplay differently than Modern Warfare. For example:
- Longer TTK, meaning the time until a kill is achieved
- No tactical sprinting
- No doors
- No weapon mounting
- Fewer parkour elements
- Simpler level design
This is seen as an advantage by some fans because, among other things, the weapon mounting mechanic in MW led to campers being particularly effective in waiting with a mounted weapon.
Additionally, the loud doors in MW were a major nuisance, and various fans are glad they are gone in Cold War.
This is what’s up with the scorestreaks: Another point that irritates many players even before the release concerns the scorestreaks. These are rewards that players earn through kills and completing objectives in the game. For example, an airstrike or special weapons that are dropped onto the battlefield.
Unlike in Modern Warfare, players will now likely retain their progress after dying. This means that even players who die often can start a good streak if they collect points.
This does not sit well with many players who want to award such rewards only to players who are actually racking up kills and objectives without dying multiple times.

Zombies make everyone happy: However, where practically all fans agreed was on the zombies at the end of the trailer. The creepy undead have always been a feature that resonates well with some fans. Especially in the CoD titles developed by Treyarch, like Cold War. They invented the whole zombie concept and are considered the masters of the undead.
Therefore, fans are also extremely excited about the upcoming zombie mode, even if they only saw a few seconds of it, as user Sasukeluffy writes: “3 seconds of zombie gameplay and I’m already hyped! Just two more months!”
