In Call of Duty: Cold War, you can now play in the “League Play” mode. However, you will have to forfeit 12 weapons. MeinMMO shows you which ones they are and why they have been locked.
What kind of mode is this? League Play, or in English “League Game,” refers to the ranked matches in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. First, you must complete five placement matches. Based on your performance in these matches, you will be placed into different divisions where opponents have a similar skill rating to you. If your performance improves, you will rank up.
But don’t lock yourselves into your favorite weapons for this mode. The weapon arsenal in League Play has been reduced by a third. Why?
That’s why some weapons are missing in League Play
These are the rules: All game modes in League Play for Cold War are played according to the official rules of the Call of Duty League (CDL). This affects the maps being played, as well as weapons and attachments.

These weapons are banned: The following weapons are listed by the CDL as banned:
- All LMGs (Stoner 63, RPD, M60)
- All Tactical Rifles (Type 63, M16, AUG, DMR)
- All Shotguns (Hauer 77, Gallo SA12)
- All Launchers (Cigma 2, RPG-7)
- All Special Weapons (M79)
No one can include these 12 listed weapons in their loadout in the League Play of Cold War. There are a total of 31 firearms + 3 melee weapons in Cold War. So about a third was locked.

This is standard in CoD: As PCGamer reports, it is normal for a Call of Duty to ban weapons in competitive play and ranked mode. Although one would expect that they could also be balanced.
During the Call of Duty League 2020, over 20 weapons were banned (via gfinityesports). Launchers, shotguns, and DMRs were already in focus for bans. In League Play, players are apparently supposed to focus on mastering the essential weapons.
