What’s included in the new Operation Apocalypse Z for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
When does the new operation start? Apocalypse Z begins on July 9, initially only on PS4. You can expect the new content between 6 PM and 7 PM our time. The Xbox One and PC will follow as usual a week later.
What Operation Apocalypse Z brings to traditional Multiplayer
Multiplayer fans will receive a variety of fresh content throughout the new operation. Note that parts of this new content may go live during the launch week of the new operation, while others will only be available later in the new season. Here are the multiplayer highlights of Apocalypse Z:
New Specialist: With Apocalypse Z, another fan-favorite returns after Spectre – the combat robot Reaper.
His special equipment is the Radar Shroud – a jammer that allows Reaper to obscure his team’s movements on desired areas of the minimap from enemies.
His special weapon is the Scythe, a machine gun with high damage and fire rate that fires explosive rounds, allowing him to additionally suppress enemies.
Reaper is available at level 1 of the new stream and can be used in traditional multiplayer once unlocked.
New Game Modes: A popular mode is returning to Black Ops 4 with Sticks and Stones.
Players are equipped only with a crossbow, a knife, and a throwing axe. The goal is to earn points with kills, and by getting a kill with an axe, you can completely reset an enemy’s point total to zero, while the leading player will periodically be marked visibly for all.
Gun Game, Infected, and other modes are also expected to be playable during this season.
New Maps: Players with the Black Ops Pass will gain access to the following three new maps:
- The Shadow: This multiplayer map is based on the zombie experience The Eisendrache and takes place in the wintry Austrian Eisenstadt, which has been overrun by the undead.
- Remnant: This large map mainly takes place in a modern museum focused on the history of zombies.
- Havana: This popular map from the first Black Ops is set on the streets of Havana during the Cold War and is now making its return.
Furthermore, there will be an alternative version of the Jungle map, which is now flooded, available to all players.
New Weapons: New weapons that you can obtain via the Black Market include:
- Reaver C86: Semi-automatic crossbow that kills on impact
- Argus: A shotgun from Black Ops III
- Backhander: A new melee weapon in the form of a severed zombie arm that kills with one blow
What Operation Apocalypse Z brings for the Blackout mode
Here are the highlights you can expect during the new operation in the Blackout mode:
New Map Updates: There are seasonal changes to the regular Blackout map. An eerie fog has settled over the map, signaling the start of the zombie apocalypse. The undead have left the game world in ruins – and new secrets – barricaded windows, and rivers stained red with blood.
Here’s what will change:
- 2 variants of the regular Blackout map: light fog and a zombie setting for traditional playlists (solo, duos, quads), much thicker fog for a limited-time quads playlist
- New update for the Alcatraz map: Alcatraz Nightfall plays in the dark and is full of zombies
New Game Modes:
- Alcatraz Portals Horde: Hellhounds and the Warden that watch for players make survival in this mode more challenging.
- Pandemic: A new survival mode. Players who are killed return as zombies and make life difficult for the remaining fighters.
New Characters: There will be new playable characters available through the Black Market, including:
- M. Shadows
- Russman
- Danny Trejo
New Weapons and Equipment: Additionally, new weapons, equipment, and a motorcycle will enrich the Blackout mode.
What Operation Apocalypse Z brings for Zombies
New Zombie Experience: The new zombie experience Alpha Omega takes place in a Broken Arrow facility on Nuke Town and continues the storyline from Classified and Blood of the Dead. This new location, which is 4 times larger than Nuke Town Zombies, aims not to disappoint in nostalgia, but also brings plenty of fresh elements such as new enemies.
New Perk: Blood Wolf Bite. When this perk is activated, players receive a companion in the form of the wolf Luna, who will aid them in the fight for survival.
Luna fights for you, kills zombies, and even deals damage to mini-bosses or larger enemies.
New Elixirs:
- Phoenix Up allows you to revive all team members, retaining all their perks
- With Head Drama, every shot counts. Because with this, each shot you fire that hits a zombie will be a headshot.
New Gauntlet: Gauntlets are special challenges in the zombie mode. They consist of 30 rounds, can be repeated endlessly, and have unique rules for each round.
The new operation brings a new gauntlet – Duck and Cover.
New Weapons: The Argus shotgun and the Reaver C86 crossbow will be added to the Mystery Box with the start of Operation Apocalypse Z.
These innovations bring Operation Apocalypse Z for the Black Market
New Stream: As in every operation, there will be a new smuggling goods stream – this time with 40 ranks for the first half of Apocalypse Z. In the second half of the operation, another stream with new content will follow.
The first stream includes:
- a playable Ultra Weapon Bribe. This guarantees a new Black Market weapon as well as two reserve boxes
- new weapons (Argus, Reaver C86, Backhander)
- new specialist (Reaper)
- new mastercraft weapons
- new MKII weapons
- new Blackout characters
- new specialist outfits
- and more new cosmetic items like gestures, war paints, weapon skins, death effects, weapon charms, or jump packs
