For the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there was a major leak concerning possible multiplayer modes. Find out here what might be coming soon for MP fans and how it differs from its predecessor Black Ops 4.
What’s the deal with the leak? YouTuber SalvationsElite recently posted a video containing a wealth of leaked information about the forthcoming multiplayer mode for CoD Black Ops Cold War. The video was subsequently removed due to a copyright claim, but the information about potential MP modes is still circulating.
By the way, there will be a major revelation about Cold War this evening.
No Specialists like in Black Ops 4
This is how characters work in Cold War: Unlike in Black Ops 4, the playable characters (Specialists) will not have their own skills. You will secure your kills using weapons and your own skill, not with any special attacks or abilities that only one character possesses.
Why is this a good thing? The specialists with their skills were indeed a nice addition to the game and brought variety, but often the abilities were simply too overpowered. Matches were frequently decided by the use of skills rather than the players’ skill with their weapons.
Therefore, the feature didn’t resonate well with many fans, and the developers will likely refrain from it. Your characters in Cold War will thus probably be just cosmetic options without unique abilities. They will resemble the operators from Modern Warfare more.
This is how the multiplayer of Black Ops Cold War could look
According to the leak from SalvationsElite, the following multiplayer modes are coming:
This is “Teams”: Here, soldiers of the CIA and the Russian Speznas fight against each other. Each player has 150 health points instead of the usual 100, and there is full regeneration. Stim-Packs are an additional loadout item.
The leak mentioned possible maps:
- One map will feature battles with 6vs6 players and take place in Miami, transitioning from the beach to the city, and even a nightclub is likely to appear.
- Another map is said to be set in the desert, where ammunition crates will be strewn about.
This map is available for Ground War: In this mode, there will be a 12vs12 map. Three ships will fight each other, and players can zip-line between the vessels. The objective is to capture mission objectives. Additionally, parts of the ships may be underwater, requiring players to swim.
These modes are also coming: According to the leak, the following modes are set to be added as well.
- Hardpoint: Here you need to capture and hold a point to generate victory points
- Kill Confirmed: Here you collect kills by picking up dog tags from fallen enemies after shooting them
- VIP
The latter could be a variant of the Safeguard mode, where you must protect and escort a defenseless robot from danger. It’s possible that instead of a robot, you will have to protect a VIP.
These are the possible scorestreaks/killstreaks: The following were revealed regarding special actions that you can earn in the game (through kills or mission objectives):
- Recon Aircraft
- VTOLs (vehicles that can take off vertically)
- Helicopters with gunners
- Cruise Missile
- Napalm Strike
- Artillery Strike
- Flamethrower
When will official information about the multiplayer mode be released? The leaks should of course be taken with a grain of skepticism. Because in the end, everything could be quite different. So, anyone who wants to know exactly what the developers have in store for multiplayer fans will have to wait until September 9, 2020. That is when the multiplayer mode will be officially revealed.
