Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War finally has a release date and apparently also a date for the beta – at least on PS4. An Arabic in-game store from Modern Warfare seems to have revealed it.
When does the beta start? If the latest leak is to be believed, the open beta for Black Ops Cold War starts on October 8. This is likely the PlayStation date – players on the Sony console can start at least 5 days before the other platforms. This would mean:

- Earliest October 13 – Start on Xbox One and PC
Where does the leak come from? The information apparently comes from the in-game store of Modern Warfare. In the store from Saudi Arabia, which currently offers both cosmetics and the new CoD, the corresponding text was found.
The “CoD Tracker” shows the Arabic text section along with a partial translation: “Early access for the open beta starts on October 8 and will be available for PS4 first.”
However, this is unofficial information, so treat it with a certain degree of skepticism.
How can I participate in the beta? If it goes as it did last year, you don’t need a preorder or anything to participate in the open beta. All players have access and can get a taste of some parts of the new CoD. However, pre-orderers are supposed to get early access – on PS4, it’s at least 5 days before everyone else.

Beta without pre-order? Even without a pre-order, you have a chance at a beta code to start as soon as the beta becomes available (likely at the same time as pre-orders). This weekend (starting on August 29), the CDL Champs will begin, marking the last official games of the “CoD MW” esports league.
