This is how you can get beta keys: In addition to the open beta starting on October 8 according to leaks, there seems to be an earlier event that you can only participate in if you pre-order a digital version of Black Ops Cold War.
But there is another method that gives you a free key. You just need to watch the big eSports championship of the Call of Duty League (CDL) on their official site on Sunday, August 30, 2020.
The CDL championship is particularly exciting because the developers have recently tweaked a weapon popular among professionals.
This is how you get the beta key from the CDL
This is how the key distribution works: While you watch the streams, a total of 10,000 beta keys will be distributed to viewers. The distribution is random, so there is no guarantee that you will actually receive your key after watching for a certain amount of time.
What else do you need to do? You also need to have an account with the CDL in advance and link it to your CoD account on PS4, Xbox, or BattleNet, depending on where you prefer to play Call of Duty.
