Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has a turn-based zombie mode again. Many players invest countless hours in the mode and try to survive as many rounds as possible. Among them is a Twitch streamer whose best attempt so far tragically failed due to a simple mistake.
What happened before the tragic failure of the run? The English-speaking Twitch streamer “MrRoflWaffles” has played the turn-based zombie mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in past streams. This is a horde mode where increasingly difficult waves of zombies attack you.
In his latest stream on November 6, MrRoflWaffles jumped back into the fight against the undead. He continued a run he had started in the previous days. This run was already at round 141 at the start of the stream.
Streamer wants to save time but messes up his best run
How did he mess up the run? About 50 minutes after the streamer continued his best run so far, the run was tragically about to end. MrRoflWaffles reached round 147 and realized that it was a so-called spider round.
MrRoflWaffles wanted to use a trick to fight normal zombies instead of spiders to save time. He needs to save and exit the game for that. In Black Ops 6, there is indeed the option to save the run, exit, and continue playing later if you play solo.
By saving, exiting, and rejoining, there is supposedly a chance that instead of spiders, normal zombies will attack. The Max Ammo power-up should still be available at the end.
However, MrRoflWaffles made a mistake at the crucial moment and selected the “Leave Match” option instead of “Save and Quit.” So he did not save but permanently ended the run. You can see a clip of the situation in this post on Reddit:
Twitch streamer can’t believe his mistake
How did the streamer react? MrRoflWaffles was naturally incredulous about the mistake. At first, he appeared disbelieving when his chat said he had left the match without saving. But when he then saw that there was indeed no save point, he realized how much playtime he had just lost: “Twelve hours of my life… the bugs won. I should have fought the bugs.”
From then on, he was annoyed for several minutes about his mistake and the fact that his new record was now round 147. After a while, he said: “I really want to blame Tryarch for this because the leave button is next to the save button, […] but honestly, it’s my fault. I pressed the button.”
There was a small consolation for the streamer: A viewer mentioned in the chat that another player had experienced the same thing in round 580. MrRoflWaffles was then glad not to be in the shoes of that player.
