Shortly before the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the developers at Treyarch announced that they have implemented a solution for the much criticized item collection in the Blackout mode.
One of the most criticized features during the Blackout Beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was the lengthy collection of found items and ammunition. This issue will apparently be addressed with a new settings option before the launch.
Picking up items in Blackout mode: Click or Hold – You have the choice
How it was before: To pick up a found item or ammunition, you had to hold down a button for a while on consoles (Square on PS4). The problem is that many players find this too slow and it unnecessarily disrupts the flow of the game. During the testing phase, many players complained and stated that they have issues with this function. Even during the beta, the developers promised a solution.
How it has been adjusted: As the Studio Design Director at Treyarch, David Vonderhaar, announced on Twitter, players will soon have a new way to pick up items on the ground.
The image in the tweet shows that it will be possible to collect items with a quick button press. When near items with this option selected, collecting equipment and ammunition will take precedence over reloading weapons. Normally, a short press of the corresponding button triggers the reloading process.
Developer warns: Therefore, Vonderhaar explicitly reminds that players should not yell at him if they cannot reload in certain situations, should they choose this setting.
Community is excited: Initial reactions are overwhelmingly positive. The fans are pleased with this new choice. After all, many players have asked for such an option. The cooperation and interaction between the community and the developers is also repeatedly highlighted and praised in this context. Players appreciate how Treyarch processes their feedback and quickly implements solutions.
