In Call of Duty: Warzone the big speculation about the upcoming CoD 2020 continues. After the website “Pawn takes Pawn” recently spat out coordinates with an old television, a batch of old documents with a kind of cipher has now been found. So, will the final hint to the Cold War CoD trailer come soon?
What was found? After the mysterious television on the website pawntakespawn.com/TV finally showed something – it was an old recording of John F. Kennedy from the Cold War – coordinates followed later.
These were recently transferred to the map Verdansk in Warzone and led to a shabby shed on a farm. There, brave players found a secret room containing mysterious old documents from the time of the Cold War.
But what is this supposed to mean?
Speculation about CoD Cold War 2020
The documents show: The documents are all marked with “Venona”. The Venona Project was a collaborative project of Western intelligence services to intercept and decrypt Soviet messages.
The documents initially contain lists of chemicals, and later grids with ciphers and arrangements of so-called Nixie tubes. These are old glow tubes that can represent numbers from 0 to 9 and were used in electronic devices in the 60s and 70s to display numerical values. They were later replaced by LEDs.
Currently, fans are busy speculating about what all the information from the documents means. Some suspect that the grids lead to bunkers where access codes for even more mysterious content can be found. Besides hints about the new CoD 2020, they also hope for special in-game rewards like skins.
In any case, the way information is presented here fits well with the suspected theme of the next Call of Duty. Because the next one is supposed to take place during the Cold War.
What has happened so far: Officially, Activision has not announced anything about the new game yet. So far, there has only been an elaborate PR campaign, where selected influencers received a mysterious box with an old-fashioned slide projector. The puzzles from the slides then lead to the revelation of the PawnTakesPawn site and finally to the documents in the shed in Warzone.
Not all fans are happy about this: While some CoD fans discover their passion for speculation in the Cold War espionage style here, others players have no patience for such nonsense. Rather, some fans are loudly demanding, “Just show the damn trailer already!” Perhaps they will soon be heard, and the newest puzzles will ultimately lead to the revelation of the trailer and official title of CoD 2020. According to the developers, Warzone is supposed to remain a constant and connect further CoD offshoots.
