Inkbound is a turn-based strategy game that describes itself as a cooperative ‘action-roguelike ’ and is currently in Early Access. About three months after its release, the game on Steam receives very positive reviews and reminds one of Diablo and Slay the Spire.
The world of Inkbound: A magical educational institution, the Athenaeum, is richly filled with books full of various stories featuring heroes and monsters.
Each of these books is a portal to a dangerous world, where you face challenges alone or with other players, fight monsters, and find a lot of loot.
What does the trailer promise? The trailer shows you many appealing excerpts of the colorful gameplay and already promises various gameplay features:
- Strategic, turn-based battles from a bird’s-eye view
- Roguelike rounds
- Help from friends in online co-op
- Fight together against evil creatures and bosses
- Various dungeons in colorful graphics with plenty of loot
The developers also promise continuous development during Early Access and after the official release of the game:
- New classes and characters
- New books that bring new worlds
- Daily challenges
- Various items for support
What are the opinions? Although the trailer on Youtube is rather undiscovered, the reviews on Steam promise a pretty good game that could certainly be worth a bit of attention.
Players are especially excited about the gameplay mechanics and the appropriate difficulty, as is evident in the Steam reviews:
- Caliban writes: ‘Well, it’s really well made, […] The game gets harder and you don’t get better just by unlocking things, you also have to master them. […]’
- Average Joe thinks: ‘[…] already as it is now, it was worth its price.’
Until September 4th, you can still get the game for just 15.90 euros, and it’s definitely worth checking out.
