The Korean Civilization Online has now introduced its character generator and shines with the typical Civilization/The Lion King music.
Civilization Online is a book with, let’s say, five and a half seals. For us Westerners, it is quite hard to imagine what XLGames, the creators of ArcheAge, are currently working on. A sort of “What if we were a single character in Civilization?” MMO.
At the moment, the game is still in a relatively early stage of development, currently in the second closed beta, and there are problems: Everyone wants to be Egyptians. However, they never win because they only build and do not wage war. Meanwhile, war has always been the only way to win. But that will be taken care of. Later, alternative win conditions like pyramid building are supposed to be added to the game.
The game is a unique blend of MMORPG and turn-based strategy. The individual player must team up with others from their “civilization” and collaborate to achieve something.
The Asia MMO specialist Steparu has now dug up some videos from character creation. The outstanding music immediately stands out here.
The game is currently in its second closed beta, to which 50,000 players were invited. We in the West might have to wait two or three years to enjoy the game, if at all. They do not want to distribute the game themselves abroad but rather seek partners for that. So, there will be plenty of time to engage with the gameplay. But for now: Character creation.
