There is a sign of life from the ambitious MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria. During a live stream, the developers showcased how you create your character.
Recently, there has been a lot of negative news about Chronicles of Elyria. The studio had to lay off employees and no longer uses the SpatialOS technology, which can create large, detailed simulated game worlds. Nevertheless, the team continues to work on the game and shows progress through a video.
Character creation offers many options
This video focuses on character creation:
- You choose one of the tribes you want to belong to
- Each tribe has its own characteristics, like height, muscle mass, etc.
- You choose whether your hero should be male or female
- You determine many aspects of the body, including how tall and thick the character should be, how long or crooked the nose is, and what hairstyle they have
- Depending on the tribe, there are restrictions. Some tribes are very small, others very muscular
- Unrealistic proportions are not possible
The video shows very well how many changes you can make and how this affects the appearance of the character. It is also clear to see how detailed the characters look.
The development is progressing
The team is currently working on the alpha of VoxElyria. This is essentially a conceptual game that is already intended to show how the MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria works, but uses simple voxel graphics.
VoxElyria is for testing game systems and is set to release in the second quarter of this year. The alpha of the regular MMORPG is also planned for this year.
In Chronicles of Elyria, it is even possible to create ugly characters.
