Only three days left until the Kickstarter campaign for the MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria ends, and the developers have revealed some new details about the online game.
In an AMA session on Reddit, the developers of Chronicles of Elyria answered questions from fans. One of the questions raised was how an indie team can undertake such an ambitious project. CEO Jeromy Walsh explained that he previously worked at Microsoft, where he developed an architecture that he is now applying to Chronicles of Elyria. Clouds and the integration of the .NET architecture play a crucial role here. Additionally, they use as much middleware as possible, so not everything has to be developed in-house.
About Crafting and Griefers …
A day in the game lasts 1.5 hours, a night 1 hour, and you’ll go through a season in one day. This way, farmers should have something to do every day and not have to wait weeks for winter. Crafting will operate through Crafting Stations that can be created by players or purchased from others. Pro server, 100,000 characters will be active, which counts not only the players, but also the NPCs.
Furthermore, there will be a close watch to ensure that griefers do not ruin the fun for others. Those caught repeatedly killing a player will not only face financial losses due to the shortened lifespan in prison, but may also be excluded from certain locations. They are also relying on the community and hope for guilds that will hunt down griefers.
Survival in the Wilderness
To survive in the wilderness, you need food and water, and you should always stay near guards or hire bodyguards. Maps also help with navigation. The better your cartography skill is, the more detailed maps you can create. However, it can only be done at a crafting station. Maps can also be forged or copied, but that requires a high skill.
The environment is also supposed to be destructible, just like buildings. However, the necessary voxel technology will only be examined after the Kickstarter campaign. You can give commands to NPCs, but they won’t always follow them. Whether an NPC follows a player depends on reputation. The better you get along with an NPC, the greater the likelihood that they will follow commands. The MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria has exceeded its Kickstarter funding goal and reached the first stretch goal. However, reaching further stretch goals by June 3rd is looking tight…
