The actor Chris Hemsworth (40) has an absurd curse: He constantly has to wear a fluttering red cape. How much the Australian hates capes is now explained in an interview: He was glad to escape the role of the God of Thunder and play something completely different. But the cape even follows him in the new Mad Max film Furiosa.
What is wrong with the man? The man has a hatred for capes. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Australian talks about his opinion on the clothing item. He simply hates capes. They are so impractical.
After years as Thor, Hemsworth was happy to play a completely different role as Dementus in Furiosa. A grim villain in a sci-fi world was a welcome change from the shining hero of Norse mythology, a role he has now played in 9 Marvel films, from 2011 (Thor) to 2020 (Thor: Love and Thunder).
But the problem: The villain from Furiosa also wears a cape, and even a red one.
“It was really something different, it was nice. I was just about to say, it was nice not to wear a cape… but I wear a cape in the film. And it is red – or at least it will be red. It is so absurd!”
There is no escaping the cape
This is what Hemsworth says about the new role: The character Dementus in Furiosa has little in common with the God of Thunder Thor, as George Miller says.
“It’s not meant as a Thor comparison, but I found a wonderful outlet for it: playing the villain, transforming, and taking on a completely different form was a lot of fun for me. I loved it. And that was the real appeal.”

This is what Hemsworth took on for the role: A very specific Roman look was important for the role as Dementus, which required the Australian to spend a lot of time in makeup.
The actress Anna-Taylor Joy jokes: It was one of the few times in her entire career that a male colleague sat in the makeup chair as long as she did.
The amount of work that went into the new Mad Max film is also evident in one detail: For 15 minutes in the new “Mad Max” film, the team shot for a total of 78 days.
