The MMORPG Tarisland introduces the warrior class in a trailer. You’ll get to see some lore and gameplay, though the reactions are focused on other things.
What kind of game is this? Tarisland is an MMORPG from the Chinese studio and publisher Tencent and is considered their answer to WoW. Visually, the game does at least remind of this model with its comic style.
The game is Free2Play and is said to be completely free of pay-to-win mechanics, despite having an in-game shop.
This month, Tarisland will enter its second closed beta. We have summarized everything about it in a previous article.
One of the seven possible character classes is now being introduced in a short trailer. You can see everything about the warrior in the following video:
What does the trailer show? The trailer presents the character class of the warrior. Alongside some information, you will also see a few gameplay scenes.
As explained in the trailer, the people in Tarisland developed close combat tactics with sword and shield. The warriors use their footwork, agility, and strength to overpower their opponents.
The warriors in Tarisland can specialize in the damage class – and thus become melee DPS – or specialize as tanks. Thanks to the unique dual specialization in Tarisland, both could even be possible.
In the short gameplay scenes, you can see the warrior in action. The differences between the two specializations become particularly clear.
If you make the warrior a melee DPS, he throws himself at the huge opponent with two swords and a charged attack.
As a tank, the warrior primarily focuses on protecting himself and his companions with his shield, as seen in the gameplay. The tanks draw the aggression of the enemies to themselves to distract them from their companions.
Players show little reactions to the warriors, but their gender
What are the reactions: The reactions in the comments via YouTube are rather mixed.
Some users write, similar to user-mm4ok5mm8m, that they are very excited and looking forward to the game. However, many opinions about the introduced class can hardly be found.
Instead, players demand in seemingly every other comment that the gender lock
of the game be lifted. This means that warriors can only be male or mages can only be female.
For instance, user coupdegracetm5090 asks if it is so difficult to remove the gender lock.
Generally, this seems to really bother many players, as is clearly indicated in the comments. Jey_Em writes: ‘Imagine they just blow up a bomb and remove the gender lock in the second closed beta without announcement. Well, just my imagination…’
User HSmarc responds: ‘I have no problem with the gender lock, I have no idea where the problem lies. If you want to play a girl, be a mage, if you want to play a boy, be a warrior, it’s that simple.’
But user Neandernaut naturally poses the important question of what to do if one wants to be a female warrior.
