One of the most popular cinematics of World of Warcraft has been remade by a fan, surpassing Blizzard’s quality once again.
Throughout World of Warcraft, there have been many in-game cinematics that were well-received by players. The first of these cinematics was the “Wrathgate,” or “The Gate of Wrath.” It was the first attempt by the WoW developers to create an in-game cinematic, aside from patch trailers. Due to its significance, the cinematic was extremely well-received by players.
The YouTube channel IKedit, which we have already praised for its Demon Hunter video and its assault on Silithus, has remade the old cinematic and has basically “remastered” it. You can watch the result here:
What is the cinematic about? In Wrath of the Lich King, the Horde and Alliance launch an attack on the Icecrown Citadel. They confront Arthas and challenge him to battle. At that very moment, however, plague barrels rain down on everyone – Alliance, Horde, and Scourge. The Apothecary Putress has used the Forsaken to simply take out everyone equally.
You can view the original video here:
Quest only half available: The associated questline actually ends today with the cinematic at the Gate of Wrath. Back then, players could enter an additional scenario to liberate Undercity from Putress.
By the way: In an interview with Alex Afrasiabi at BlizzCon 2018, it was mentioned that Sylvanas was aware of the Gate of Wrath and even had it planned. This means she was only pretending not to know about the plans. This casts a different light on her current actions, which are probably all part of her grand scheme.
What do you think of this HD version of the original cinematic? A cool upgrade? Or does the old version have a greater charm?
