A player confronted a cheater in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The cheater shamelessly admits to using hacks and seems unconcerned about the consequences of a report.
What happened? The reddit user theHugoat posted a clip where he confronts a cheater. He reviewed all his killcams and is sure: he is using an aimbot and a wallhack – cheats that give him unfair advantages.
When confronted, the accused calmly replies: “Yeah, I hack. Do you think they look at the damn reports? No.” The information he provided is incorrect anyway, which means his account cannot be marked as a cheater. “No one gets caught, bro.”
The software he uses to cheat costs him just $9 (about €7.43). He implies with a question that there are dozens of cheaters who can afford it, which is why everyone does it. The video generates a sour mood in the corresponding thread.
Cheater mocks, players are angry
Here’s how players react: Many users on reddit seem to agree with the cheater. No one is doing anything against the scammers. The comment with the most upvotes comes from JohnBoy200, who writes:
“They do something if you have an offensive name, but I really don’t think they care about cheaters. It would cost them money to investigate, while names can be seen immediately. CoD is a cheater’s paradise.”
Several users agree with JohnBoy200 and feel abandoned in the fight against cheaters. They claim that even the pros cheat in tournaments and indeed, there was recently a cheater scandal in a $250,000 tournament.
However, they find it important that cheaters are still reported so that perhaps something will happen.
Is really nothing being done? The claim that reports are not investigated, however, seems to not be entirely true. In the past, there have been several reports that thousands of cheaters have been banned from the games.
Just at the end of 2020, Modern Warfare and Warzone banned over 200,000 cheaters. But according to the players, that is not enough. There are still too many of them. The fight against hacks and cheats continues.
