What is it? Chatsonic is a relatively new chatbot based on ChatGPT. However, you get significantly more features, and the AI can also access the internet. Additionally, you can speak to the bot via microphone and have the answers given to you as speech.
Besides text, Chatsonic also has a built-in image generator that can create images from the entered text. This works somewhat better or worse and should be understood more as a nice bonus.
What does the AI cost? Generally, Chatsonic is free, but with limitations: You get 25 free attempts per day; after that, you have to pay. Alternatively, you can pay around 12 euros a month for a subscription.
Jasper Chat

What is it? Jasper Chat is also a largely free alternative to ChatGPT. Jasper Chat was trained like ChatGPT 3 with articles and information from before 2021. You can ask the AI questions, have texts translated, or have scripts written.
Additionally, with one click, you can include Google search data in the discussion. Another advantage: Jasper has a memory; the AI remembers previous conversations (about 3,000 words).
What does the AI cost? Jasper Chat is essentially free, but you need a paid subscription for some additional features. For the Boss or Business plan, you pay a hefty 60 euros per month. However, you can use a trial version before subscribing.

Character AI

What is it? Character AI is also a chatbot based on neural language models. Unlike ChatGPT or other AI models, you can choose from personalities before the conversation or create your own conversation partner. Here, you can select greeting, voice, and other character traits and even create an image (avatar).
Some users, however, explain that Character AI is not the fastest chatbot and takes a bit longer for some responses. Therefore, you should plan a little extra time.
What does the AI cost? Character AI is free. However, you need an account with the provider if you want to use the AI permanently for free.
YouChat

What is it? YouChat is based on the search engine of the same name and is also integrated into it. YouChat is based on a ChatGPT model and was also trained with millions of texts. Like Chatsonic, YouChat can access the internet and thus provide current information.
The range of functions of YouChat is similarly extensive as ChatGPT: You can write texts, generate code, or simply summarize sections of articles. The system also offers additional features such as microphone input or personalities, although not as extensively as Character AI.
YouChat is less detailed and keeps the answers comparatively short. You will have to ask more often if you want more details.
What does the AI cost? You can use YouChat completely for free. There is no subscription or paid system.
DialoGPT

What is it? DialoGPT is now outdated and has been succeeded by GODEL AI from Microsoft. Nevertheless, you can still use the AI and talk to it.
The AI was trained with so-called multi-turn dialogues. When there are multiple turns in a conversation, it is referred to as a multi-turn conversation. This is meant to help the AI place questions in the correct context.
Setting up DialoGPT is not entirely simple as it is based on an API, and you can download the code yourself. The downside of the API is also that the AI has not been fully trained.
What does the AI cost? DialoGPT is free as long as you don’t have too high demands. For a simple conversation, the bot is definitely sufficient.
Google Gemini (formerly Bard)

What is it? Google Gemini is a chatbot from Google and poses competition for ChatGPT. The underlying model of Gemini is LaMDA, which is Google’s own language and communication model. Google Gemini is generally free; however, there is also a paid version, Gemini Pro, priced at around 20 euros.
What you should definitely consider: Google issues a privacy warning before using “Gemini”: You should not entrust the AI with private matters or at least think carefully.
By now, Gemini has been integrated into all “Google Workspace” products like Docs, Sheets, and other tools.
What does the AI cost? Google Gemini is officially free, but currently, the AI can only be used by selected testers. In the future, however, Gemini is expected to be integrated into several Google products.
