What does the gameplay in Arise: A Simple Story look like? After starting the game in a snowy landscape, each level throws you into a new setting:
At one point, you find yourself in a vast flower landscape riding on snails, later you swim on a water plant over a night river.
This is how you play through the various environments and thus through the different stages of the leader’s life, starting from his childhood.
Along the way, you’ll also meet the leader’s life partner and follow the story of the couple in all its ups and downs.
The gameplay mostly consists of the genre-typical jumping from one platform to the next. In between, you also solve some puzzles to activate hidden mechanisms and progress in the level.
Your character has a special ability that assists you on your journey: You can manipulate time.
This allows you to rewind or fast forward and thus change processes in your environment to your advantage. You can influence the flow of time by a few seconds or let whole seasons pass.
Arise: A Simple Story can be played solo or cooperatively with split-screen for two players.
