The mystical Pokémon Celebi has been in Pokémon GO since the GO Fest 2018. The stats are now known. Fans have already noticed that Celebi is a bit weaker than its predecessor Mew.
Celebi first appeared at the GO Fest 2018: Celebi is one of the mythical Pokémon that are extremely rare – So rare that its existence is even doubted. Trainers who are at the Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago (USA) can currently complete a five-part special research task that leads them to Celebi.
When will Celebi come to Germany? This is still unknown. Celebi is currently exclusive to the GO Fest. We assume that Niantic will reveal when Celebi’s special research will be globally unlocked after the festival.
How will Celebi perform? Here are its stats and moves
Celebi’s stats:
- Stamina: 200
- Attack: 210
- Defense: 210
- Max CP: 3090
Celebi is of the Psychic/Grass type: This gives it the following advantages and weaknesses against other types:
- Advantage (0.714 x damage): Fighting, Ground, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Water
- Weakness (1.4 x damage): Flying, Poison, Ghost, Fire, Ice, Dark
- Double weakness (1.96 x damage): Bug
Celebi’s moves: Although Celebi is of the Grass type, it does not possess a charged Grass attack, which disappoints some fans. Here are the attacks:
- Confusion: Psychic, Fast Attack
- Charge Beam: Electric, Fast Attack
- Hyper Beam: Normal, Charged Attack – 1 bar
- Mystical Fire: Fairy, Charged Attack – 2 bars
- Psyshock: Psychic, Charged Attack – 1 bar
Why is Celebi weaker than Mew?
The difference lies in the moveset, meaning the attacks: Celebi has the same base stats as Mew, but has fewer options regarding attacks. This means Celebi will be less useful in battles than Mew. Trainers will particularly notice the difference when facing meta-relevant Pokémon such as Machamp, Kyogre, Gyarados, Vaporeon, Dragonite, Rayquaza, Salamence, or Tyranitar.
Mew simply has the better attack combinations right now, giving it a slight advantage over Celebi.
