In Fortnite: Battle Royale there is a glitch that slyly lets players enter loot vaults without having a keycard. This way, honest players are ambushed and glitchers have a strong advantage.
What are loot vaults in Fortnite? These vaults are bunkers found in 5 different locations on the map. They are guarded by a mini-boss and its henchmen.
They are opened with keycards that one receives after eliminating the mini-boss. In the vault, you find plenty of loot such as weapons and shield items needed for combat.
Enter loot vault without a key
So what is this glitch? With a glitch, players can enter a loot vault without having a keycard. This way, the encrypted door does not open and it appears as if the vault is still closed.
The YouTuber Ali-A, who is disliked by some players, has now found a method to get into the vault without using a card. In a YouTube video, he shows how he executed this plan (via YouTube).
How does the glitch work? We do not want to explain a blatant exploit here as it could lead to bans and spoil the gaming experience for everyone in Fortnite. Basically, it’s about:
- Finding a motorboat near the vaults
- Glitching through a wall or floor at the vaults with it
Unfair glitch needs a fix
That’s why this exploit is so unfair: The purpose of these loot vaults is to earn the keycards in combat, to then be rewarded with excellent loot.
Imagine this: A player lands at a hotspot like “The Agency,” which was even referred to by pro Ninja as “the new Tilted Towers”, eliminates all opponents there, fights through the henchmen, and takes down the mini-boss Midas, only to be eliminated by a sneaky glitcher hiding in the vault.
At least the honest players who managed to get the keycard do not expect to find an opponent in the vault when it should actually still be closed. The element of surprise throws them off their game, which is a clear advantage for the glitcher.
Is a fix for the bug coming now? It is possible that Epic will react to this glitch and introduce a fix with the next update or even deploy a hotfix.
Since Ali-A has 16.9 million followers on YouTube, this exploit is unlikely to remain undiscovered for long.
