In Call of Duty: Warzone, a new invisibility glitch has been discovered that can cost you fun and potentially the victory in Battle Royale – a skin makes its wearer invisible from a certain distance. We show you what to watch out for.
This has now been discovered: In Call of Duty: Warzone, a YouTuber came across a skin that provides unfair advantages in battle and can become a real problem for the enemies of the wearer. With this skin, you will be invisible to the enemy from a certain distance.
This is the skin in question: The problematic skin is Forest Spirit – an alternative appearance for the Modern Warfare and Warzone operator Grinch. Grinch wears blue swim shorts under his ghillie suit for the upper body.
This comes as part of the Eloko bundle, which you can buy in the in-game shop for 1,800 CoD points. Some are debating whether this constitutes pay-to-win, as you can buy an advantage with money. However, this advantage is certainly not intended. It is simply a bug related to the Forest Spirit skin.
This is what this skin does in detail: As the YouTuber Scop3s_ found out, the skin makes its wearer invisible to their enemies, which certainly was not the developers’ intention. However, the invisibility is not active all the time, but only at a certain distance.
- If you do not aim at the wearer, meaning you are not looking through your weapon’s sights at them, they will already be invisible when you are more than 34 meters away from them.
- If you look through a normal scope, the wearer disappears when you are more than 55 meters away from them.
- If you look through a 4x magnification scope, only the head and the weapon of the wearer can be seen from a distance of 125 meters, which is very easy to overlook if you do not know what to look for.
You can watch the video from Scop3s_ to see how this works in practice:
By the way, the invisibility problem with this skin had already been known for some time, but it was assumed that the wearer only becomes invisible to their teammates – and not to enemies. Obviously, that is not the case.
What you should watch out for: The skin is very noticeable. Especially if you have seen it before, it is easy to spot when you encounter it.
If you (visibly) encounter an opponent who is actively using this skin, you should be cautious from then on. If you do not catch them directly, it may be better to retreat from the fight (if possible) to avoid being taken out by an invisible enemy. Because if you lose sight of the wearer in the heat of battle or due to increasing distance, you are clearly at a disadvantage due to the invisibility bug.
If you notice that the wearer is aware of their advantage and uses it strategically against you or others, you should report the player. This could contribute to fixing the bug more quickly by the developers.
