Battlefield 2042 offers numerous weapon attachments for your guns. However, some of them do not work as the description shows. MeinMMO summarizes for you what some players have found out.
This is how weapon attachments work in Battlefield 2042: You can unlock various attachments in the game and then equip them on the respective weapons.
They help you adapt your guns to your needs for the respective situation. They are divided into four categories:
- Sights
- Ammunition
- Underbarrel
- Barrel
You can equip a maximum of one attachment per category; some weapons do not even offer slots for certain categories. Therefore, you can equip a maximum of one attachment per category. In All-Out Warfare, however, you can bring additional attachments and easily adjust them thanks to the Plus menu in the middle of the match.
Here you can also see certain values such as firepower, precision, handling, and range. These are positively or negatively influenced by your attachments. Here you can find an explanation, what exactly they offer, how to unlock them, and equip them.
But some players have found out: With numerous weapons and attachments, the actual effects deviate from what the description and the value display actually indicate. Reddit user Skada85 has illustrated this in an example:
Weapon attachments often have different effects than the description suggests
What players have discovered: In the video shown above, you can see how the player equips a muzzle brake on the AK24. According to the in-game display, this should reduce vertical recoil.
In practice, however, the effect is exactly the opposite: with the muzzle brake, vertical recoil is significantly greater than without the attachment.
Equally strange is the magazine extension. It should increase the capacity from 30 to 50, but in practice, you only have 39 rounds per magazine.
User LoKi_Cosmoz has had similar experiences with the VCR sniper rifle:
- With the standard magazine, the VCR has 15 rounds per magazine.
- With the close combat magazine, which also provides an ammunition drum, you get 30 rounds per magazine. According to the description, it has an increased ammunition capacity.
- Strangely, the regular close combat magazine offers 48 rounds, although the description states “Reduced ammunition capacity.”
It is similar with the barrels. While the extended barrel is supposed to reduce the fire rate, it actually increases the fire rate from 450 to 500. The short barrel, on the other hand, reduces the fire rate from 450 to 400. (via reddit)
Many descriptions are therefore either wrong or buggy. What exactly the problem is here is hard to determine. So far, the developer DICE has not commented on the issue.
Pay close attention to which attachments you equip
What can you do about it? Currently, you should test each attachment yourself and keep a close eye on the effects on the individual values of your weapons.
Especially concerning fire rate, ammunition capacity, and weapon handling, such an attachment can influence the gameplay feel of your weapon.
So make sure you do not accidentally make your favorite weapon worse with the wrong attachment because the description is not correct. It’s better to test them in practice.
For this, the solo/co-op mode in All-Out Warfare is ideal, where you can compete against bots with friends or alone.
Here you can test your weapons and attachments undisturbed without being interrupted by other players. Have you noticed this problem as well? Which weapon attachments do you particularly recommend?
Unfortunately, it is just one of many problems that Battlefield 2042 is struggling with in the early access version. Players have recently found out that the hitboxes are incorrect. But that seems not to be a concern.
