The character in Minecraft is probably one of the strongest video game heroes of all time. The total weight he can carry is impressive.
In Minecraft, not everything goes according to the laws of our reality. Especially the weight that the character can effortlessly carry around might be a bit puzzling for some players. We are not just talking about 64 stone blocks of the size 1x1x1 meter – but significantly more. A fan on Reddit calculated how much maximum weight your Minecraft hero can carry.
Who calculated this? The Reddit user Corrupted_Milk created a small animation and explained what mass the Minecraft hero can carry. He starts with the heaviest item in the game and keeps increasing the scaling until the character’s inventory is completely full.

He starts with a Netherite ingot, which consists of 4 Netherite scraps and 4 gold ingots. Netherite has no real weight, which is why only the gold components are used for the calculation. One gold ingot already corresponds to a weight of 2,144 kg in Minecraft – because an ingot is one-ninth of a 1x1x1 block of gold. This makes a Netherite ingot already reach a hefty 8,578 kg!
This is how the calculation continues: Corrupted_Milk then connects the items further to increase the weight until the player’s inventory is full. This results in the following steps:
- 9x Netherite ingots result in 1x Netherite block weighing 77,000 kg
- 64x Netherite blocks (a full stack) are already at 4,940,800 kg
- 27 stacks of Netherite blocks fill an entire Shulker box and weigh 133,401,600 kg
- 36 Shulker boxes fill the player’s inventory and weigh 4,802,437,600 kg
- If you also fill the character’s off-hand, a few million kilograms are added on top.
The final result is a weight of 4,835,808,000 kg!
With such strength, even Link with the Titan gloves would turn green with envy.
Can there be more? Some players note that the calculations could have also included Ender chests. However, these were consciously left out, as Ender chests in the “story” of Minecraft are more about teleportation and thus the weight is not really carried by the character. Also, armor could theoretically still be added, but this has been omitted – the few extra kilos don’t matter much.
