This year, a new strategy game will be launched on Steam, where you must cleverly utilize superheroes and their abilities to win.
What kind of game is this? The game Capes is a strategy game on Steam that initially resembles XCOM. The game is turn-based and requires the smart use of your heroes’ abilities.
In the game, you fight as superheroes who have found new courage against villains who came to power 20 years ago. To succeed, you need to recruit new allied superheroes. To become stronger, you gain experience points for the heroes after each mission, which you can use to skill them.
Additionally, each superhero grants their allied heroes in action a specific ability, making the right combination even more important. Almost like the Powerpuff Girls.

Who is the game suited for? On the Steam page of the turn-based superhero game, the developer states that the superpowers in Capes do not make the heroes invincible. Tactical positioning, team composition, and the right decisions determine the success of the missions.
Just placing your units behind cover and pressing fire should not be enough to win. Therefore, those who prefer very simple strategy games might find Capes a bit frustrating. However, it’s important to mention that the heroes can be leveled up, which should make missions easier.
How do the RPG elements work in Capes? After each completed mission, the heroes receive experience points, allowing them to level up. For each level-up and in bonus missions, the heroes receive skill points that they can distribute. An ultimate ability can also be unlocked per hero.
The game offers side missions in addition to the main missions to further level up the characters.
