Diablo Immortal aims to be a full-fledged MMO, focusing on content for groups and social interaction. But what if you prefer to play alone? MeinMMO takes a look at which content really requires friends and what can also be done solo.
This is offered by Diablo Immortal: After several betas and just before release, we already know what content awaits you in Diablo Immortal. This includes well-known features as well as completely new content that has never been in Diablo before. The most important contents are:
- 6 classes at launch, with more to come later
- a campaign that is expected to deliver around 10 hours of story
- guilds that fight for domination over the servers in PvP
- 2 factions: Immortals and Shadows with their own content like contracts and ranks
- dungeons and raids for groups of 4 to 48 players
- the Helliquary: raids for 8 players that receive a new boss every month
- rifts and bounties
With this content, Diablo Immortal apparently aims to appeal to many different players. Even the developers say: This will be a really ambitious game and “the largest Diablo yet”. Immortal wants to be both a real Diablo and a true MMO. However, those who want to play solo do not have to give up immediately.
Can I play Diablo Immortal solo? Basically yes. Game Director Wyatt Cheng answered some community questions in a Q&A before the release (via wowhead.com). One of these was also the question of how much solo players would be restricted. Cheng says:
There will be limits to what you can do, but they aren’t too severe, I think. I understand that you enjoy playing solo – but we fundamentally want the game to have a social component.
We’ve adjusted bounties so you will never need a group for them. You can join the Shadows solo and complete contracts solo. Both were things that solo players had problems with in the endgame of the closed beta.
You will be able to see a lot of Diablo Immortal even without a group. However, most endgame content is designed for groups.
In the video, we reveal everything you need to know about Diablo Immortal in 3 minutes:
Solo is possible, but Diablo Immortal is an MMO
For this, you need a group: Most endgame content is designed for groups. Although particularly skilled players may be able to complete some content solo, you actually need teams for:
- the 7 known dungeons of the game (4 players)
- the Helliquary (8 players)
- the Vault raid for Shadows (8 players)
- Kion’s Ordeal for Immortals (48 players or 4 groups of 12 players)
- PvP battlegrounds (8vs8 players)
Furthermore, there is the “Cycle of Strife”, which is divided into two phases. In the “Rite of Exile,” a total of 160 players from different guilds compete against each other in 10 separate 8v8 matches. Subsequently, under the right conditions, there will be a 30v1 battle in the “Challenge of the Immortal”.
Conversely, this means that as of now, you can only easily complete Elder Rifts, bounties, and contracts solo. However, many things are expected to be adjusted before release.
The developers have already confirmed that, as typical for Diablo, you can get your loot from every source. Therefore, you don’t necessarily need a group for the best items, but if you want to play all the content, you should look for teammates.
When does Diablo Immortal release? Diablo Immortal goes live on June 2, 2022, for Android and iOS. Additionally, you can play the new Diablo on PC from that same day, although the client will still be in open beta.
However, since there is no wipe, this is considered a soft launch. You can play across platforms (“Crossplay”) and transfer save data when playing on different platforms (“Cross-Save”).
Diablo Immortal is Free2Play, so you can join at any time without having to pay. We have already compiled 5 things you need to know before release for you.
