The development of the MMORPG Camelot Unchained is not going as planned, as the team had hoped. However, a larger injection of funds is expected to change that.
Mark Jacobs, founder of the development studio City State Entertainment, has spoken in interviews about the status of the MMORPG Camelot Unchained. Many PvP fans are eagerly awaiting the spiritual successor of Dark Age of Camelot.
Jacobs must admit that the development of the game is behind schedule. However, the studio has secured a financial injection of 7.5 million US dollars from investors. The funds are now being used to hire new staff to accelerate the production of the game.

Completion of the game is a top priority – Danger: Feature Creep
It is important for Jacobs to focus on finishing Camelot Unchained now, without any further “feature creep”, meaning no more ideas for new features and systems that everyone on the team finds so cool that they want to implement them.
This has previously led to delays in development and the beta being postponed repeatedly. However, one feature has been expanded, namely CUBE, the Minecraft-like “building system” of Camelot Unchained. This is set to receive virtual reality support, which may mean that Camelot Unchained itself will also get VR support.
Investors are into Virtual Reality
According to Jacobs, this was important because the investors were excited about the idea.
However, finishing the game is the priority; whether VR support will be implemented is still uncertain. It could be possible. The main goal remains to enable massive Realm-versus-Realm battles.
They want to see at least 1,000 players during sieges, which should run on a mid-range PC with at least 30 fps.

New announcements regarding the beta coming soon
In the coming weeks, several major announcements are also planned – including the launch date of the first beta.
Release of Camelot Unchained planned for 2019 – but without guarantee
Jacobs also announces that the release of Camelot Unchained is planned for 2019 – but without guarantee.
He expresses confidence that the development of the MMORPG can now progress more quickly due to the new financial resources and also thanks the fans for their support.
